After I got married, my Canadian wife and I applied for her green card. In Hartford, CT, (late 1997) the older white woman told us that the application process had changed and that we had to start all over again and resubmit everything. She had a bit of a smirk. We had observed her sending away numerous people in line ahead of us.

I asked to see her supervisor, a younger black woman. That lady noted that our time stamp was before the change and it was determinative, and we went to the next step. She was professional, well spoken, and was able to work a job where you have to deal with frustrated or demanding people all day. She still managed to be pleasant. I do not know if she was an affirmative action hire, but if she was, she rose to the requirements of the job. The contrast was striking.

Interesting that at the same time Biden rolls out this EO, many of the big name companies, including Amazon and Target, are reducing their so-called “Equity” personnel as a cost-cutting measure. I wonder when the new federal equity police will decide, ala South Africa, that the big tech, pharma and manufacturing companies must be restructured to reduce, if not eliminate, the presence of the detested straight white male from leadership positions?
