McPlant Nuggets __ made from peas, corn and wheat with a tempura batter __ are the second product McDonald’s has co-developed with Beyond Meat, an El Segundo, California-based maker of plant-based meats. McDonald’s has been selling a McPlant burger since 2021.

McDonald’s said the nationwide nugget rollout to more than 1,400 restaurants in Germany follows a limited-time test at nine restaurants in the Stuttgart area in August. McDonald’s will also start selling the McPlant burger in Germany next week.

Availability of the McPlant nuggets and burger in future markets will depend on customer demand, McDonald’s said.

The McPlant burger is now a permanent menu item in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Austria and the Netherlands. Last month, McDonald’s rolled out the Double McPlant burger in the U.K. and Ireland.

But in the U.S., McDonald’s ended a test of the McPlant burger last summer without announcing any future plans for its sale.

If being a vegan is so great, why do they keep trying to make plants taste like meat.

I hope that takes off.

I hate my job and am looking to get into Big Beetle.

Now is the time to get in on the ground floor.

Well, thankfully I don’t particularly enjoy chicken nuggets and certainly don’t eat “McNuggets”.

Beef tallow for frying was phased out in 1971, I believe. I started at the Beaverton, OR, McDonald’s in September of 1971 and remember that they used vegetable shortening then, but I think they had just recently changed over. Burger patties were indeed beef, and milkshakes were made with a ready-mixed liquid that you poured into the top of the machine; I don’t know how much real milk was in that. Fries were made from fresh potatoes, not shipped in frozen.

A hamburger was 20 cents, a cheeseburger was 25 cents, and a Big Mac was 55 cents. There were no Quarter Pounders or breakfast items at that time.

The food really was better-tasting then.

I’m a nationally known expert in caulking and sealing. (Really, that’s my expertise). I’ve done just about anything you can do with it but I’ve never tried frying it.

Haven’t been to a McD in years. Haven’t missed it one bit. Every other fast food place I’ve been since, has been better. Every one of them.

So Vegans, most of whom boycott meat because of the inhumane treatment of animals, have no problem with the mental concept of eating “symbolic” fake dead Chickens?

I mean, the food was just so addicting, and we would literally fight over the fries as kids.

My first job was at the 2nd McDonald's in Maine (mid 1960s). I made milk shakes and fries. I loved the fries. The grille seemed to be the domain of the culinary students at the local tech college.

Perfect timing. The bottom is falling out of the “plant based” meat market because no one wants it.

Was there ever chicken in the McNuggets to begin with?

McDonald’s is the best for breakfast bar none. BK second. Respective sales figures per store prove this.

I looked up the McPlant burger. It looks to be about the same size as the quarter pounder and has 510 calories. The quarter pounder has 520 calories with less fat and less carbs than the McPlant, plus more protein. In other words, it’s not any healthier than a regular quarter pounder. Why would anyone buy it? It offers no nutritional advantage and likely tastes worse. Maybe they think they’ll get some of the nutty animal rights activists who have a hangup about eating meat but most normal people like meat.

I’m too white to eat at McDs. They said a long time ago they didn’t want my kind eating there. Ironic as I worked at one awhile in high school.
