Farmington, N.M. has the fastest-rising housing costs in the United States, according to a new report from the National Association of Realtors scanning home prices across the nation.
Communities in Florida and North Carolina took up seven of the top 10 metro areas with the fastest-growing home prices, with the North Port-Sarasota-Bradenton area coming in second.
The report found that prices for single-family homes increased in nearly 90 percent of all metro areas, with the median price increasing by 4 percent from the same time last year to $378,700. The report looked at changes in housing prices in 186 metropolitan areas across the country.

Lol!
My small gulf coast community has them all beat.
We were down at 30A for the Songwriters Festival. Construction looked to be going nuts.
New Mexico is being overrun with California refugees, Florida with New York refugees. Unfortunately, they continue to vote for the same democrat/socialist crap that forced them to flee California and New York.
The stock and bond markets crashed last year. I expect the real estate market to crash this year. The big difference is that real estate markets are far more regional, so prices may continue to rise in some areas while they crash in others.
New Mexico has been solidly D for how long? Better there then Texas,AZ or Idaho
I live in the #2 fastest growing area in the country. It feels like it and I don’t like it.
I was thinking of starting a crystal meth manufacturing and human trafficking business…
“Florida with New York refugees”
It’s a longer list than that my friend....a lot longer
“the median price increasing by 4 percent from the same time last year to $378,700”
If you could find a house in my neighborhood in the last 2 years for 400k you stole it.
The 2 years before that getting 350k was a dream
You nailed it. I imagine everyone is leaving Farmington since they’ve closed the power plant and coal mines. I guess you can still sell Indian rugs and jewelry. Don’t know why the hell anyone would move there. I think the realtors have their numbers messed up.
4 of 10 in FL.
We’re a red state now.
500-600k in my hood would be a jump-on-it bargain and would get bid up from there.
Small town. Maybe government subsidized rent for illegals?
Looks a lot like old time U.S.A. in many ways, but seeing a renaissance of sorts.
Farmington??? Who is buying? Drug lords, illegal Mexicans and Mormon polygamists?
In many areas prices are going down significantly.
