A Bank of England and HM Treasury publication The way we use money is changing. This Consultation Paper sets out our assessment of the case for a retail central bank digital currency (CBDC) – a so-called ‘digital pound’. It has been overseen by the joint Bank-HM Treasury CBDC Taskforce that was announced in April 2021.
At this stage, we judge it likely that the digital pound will be needed in the future. It is too early to decide whether to introduce the digital pound, but we are convinced preparatory work is justified.
The digital pound would be a new form of sterling, similar to a digital banknote, issued by the Bank of England. It would be used by households and businesses for their everyday payments needs. It would be used in-store, online and to make payments to family and friends. If introduced, it would exist alongside, and be easily exchangeable with, cash and bank deposits.
The digital pound would maintain public access to retail central bank money and, as our lifestyles and the economy become ever more digital, it would also promote innovation, choice and efficiency in domestic payments.
During this consultation, HM Treasury and the Bank of England will engage extensively with stakeholders across the UK to seek views on the proposed model of the digital pound set out. Responses to this consultation are invited from all interested members of the public, experts, and organisations.

It is needed so the government can have complete control of your money.
People will start buying whatever currency is not digital. And they will start bartering. This is not crypto currency. This is just getting rid of cash so the government can control access to people’s own bank accounts. There is no advantage. A person has the ability to go full digital right now with credit cards and direct deposit there is no reason to use cash. And many 20 somethings don’t carry any cash. My children rarely use cash. But they have the choice. The Bank of England is not providing anything new. They are taking away something. They will provide their friends with lots of money and they will limit those who are in their way. This is the beginning of slavery. Governments will have huge control of every aspect of your life because they control your money. And people will get money for doing all sorts of things not necessarily work. Fortunately I am old enough where this may not matter to me.
It will not only be introduced, it will be mandated. and it will only be easily exchangable with other currency so long as that is advantageous for the state to allow those transactions.

What they aren’t saying, is that by a decree, they will make the “digital pound” the only legal tender. You’ll have 30 days to look under mattresses and in old coat pockets to find all your banknotes and turn them in at the bank. Of course, you’ll need to present identification so that they can ask you where you got all that cash, and you’ll forfeit anything over a certain amount.
A few months after everything’s digital, you’ll find that it’s not just a convenient way to pay, but that the government has total access to and control over your money. Your social media postings will be monitored, and any time you don’t parrot the official “truth” you’ll see your balance reduced.
For the ultimate “crime,” such as misgendering a “trans,” or claiming that masks don’t work, or going to a Latin Mass, they’ll just freeze your account. You will become a non-person, and essentially condemned to death.

Gov't digital currency is a method to enslave and control.
ALL transactions will be monitored.
Any transaction not endorsed by the Fascists will be prohibited.
Taxes will be TAKEN, not assessed. No appeal!
It would mean the gov't tells you:
Which candidate you may contribute to. (No Republican)
Which charity you may contribute to. (No Pro-Life)
Guns and ammo? HA!
Vaccine Passports are one thing we have already seen and readily understand. We have seen how a totalitarian government could use them as we watched the ChiComs restrict the movement of their dissident citizens using it. They would undoubtedly do that here. No doubt. As currently implemented in Communist China, this affects your ability to cross a state or even city line, use public transportation, or check into a hotel
Another component of a digital passport (of any kind) is that they can (and will) easily link that to your bank account in a heartbeat even without a digital currency. They link to it and then to your bank accounts, and you have to have enough cash on hand all the time. With a digital currency, they just put the stop on you period, turning off the valve at the source. So you can't buy food. Can't check into a hotel. Can’t fix a flat tire. You can't buy anything. You won't be able to disappear.
It is going to be interesting, watch how they present this to the public. These are the things they will say (again, not what I think, it is how they will sell it to us):
They will make this so attractive to their target audience (people who are accustomed to being habitually electronically connected 24 hours a day, seven days a week) that vast swaths of people will break down brick walls to voluntarily get this deadly threat to their liberty. This is what they are aiming for.
That part will be like selling heroin to heroin-addicts.
At this point, they despotic government have one of the most effective wedges ever invented to drive between people.
It will be more effective than religion. It will be more effective than education. It will be more effective than class. It will be more effective than simply having money. It will be more effective than skin color.
It will be more of a wedge than money, because it is total control of money.

Consider the giants in the credit card and debit card industries, worldwide. If there were a "digital" currency, there would be no need of the interim representations of a currency as managed by all the various individual bank cards and such as PayPal and its ilk.
Rather, I suspect this is NOT a replacement for a currency, because soon then all commercial and local banks and "funds" would be the same damn thing, none different from another as to a variety of things such as charges and marketing.
What then? A push for a citizenry to enroll in and use a DIGITAL WALLET -- complete with the other "wished for" digital ID and those additions like "health info" and ESG rankings.
But then a central bank's individual "digital currency" would have no other lure, excepting that it might be discounted at first to sucker in customers. But as long as "interchangeable," the end of the user's satisfaction would allow their escape from the "system." It's the wallet. The digital ID that they want.
