Alex Cora didn’t exactly hide his sign-stealing ways – in fact, the alleged mastermind behind the Astros’ shocking 2017 scandal bragged about them to his new team.
Members of the 2018 Red Sox would listen to their new manager – along with bullpen coach Craig Bjornson, another ex-Houston staffer – discuss their scheme “in a late-night setting” and “especially when they started drinking,” according to Evan Drellich’s new book, “Winning Fixes Everything: How Baseball’s Brightest Minds Created Sports’ Biggest Mess.”
“We stole that [expletive] World Series,” Cora reportedly told his players, according to a Boston Herald transcript.

So, they didn’t really win that world series.
What’s to be proud about.
It’s like Biden saying...
‘We Stole That 2020 Election’
Cheaters, but, democrats had a lot more to ‘gain’ by stealing the election. Democrats know they can get away with it again, but the Astros will be under a microscope in the future.
(how am I doing with my digression?)
If you’re going to use signs, change them up or learn to use lip reading...or don’t use them. At least make it difficult for the other team. Sign stealing has been a part of baseball for many, many years.
This really shows how worthless and idiotic Rob Manfred.
Alex Cora = Piece of sh*t
It wasn’t that they were stealing signs. Everyone does or tries.
It was that they would then pound on a trash can lid in the dugout so the batter would know what pitch was coming.
Alex Cora ADMITS he stole a World Series and he is still in baseball, yet Pete Rose was banned for life and not allowed in the hall of fame. Ban Cora NOW!
Every team does it, so no big deal. Part of the game.
Then they joined the American League and played in the same division as my beloved Angels. Admired their success until the scandal.
A dark time for The Astros and for baseball.
Can't believe that Cora would actually boast about it. Shame!!
The Astros violated MLB rules by using cameras and other technology to steal signs from opposing teams. Every team doesn't do that.
Pete is not a nice guy. The Hall of Fame is about talent, not character. A Hall for best citizens among baseball players would shutter its doors and grow ivy.
So...sign stealing happens. Is there a better, more honorable, way to deliver the information?
Well the “part of the game accepted” way is for guys on base to do it and flash the batter. Which means the 1st step sign stealing is getting somebody on base. When you give some ball boy a camera and a trashcan it’s a bit much. But there were a bunch of suspensions so good enough.
They were using a centerfield camera to zoom in a the catchers fingers when he would flash the sign to the pitcher.
Then they were transmitting a #1 for a fastball or #2 for another pitch using a I WATCH that the base coach was wearing. He would signal the batter.
When they got caught doing that, they switched to banging on the trash can lid to signal the batter.
Alex Cora refused to visit the White House in 2018 because he said Trump, “lacks integrity” yet the f*ck*r cheated.
That we know of.
Like I said, every team does it. Houston was caught only because one of their players signed with another team and threw Houston under the bus.
A team could steal signals by just watching the live action on TV.
What is illegal about stealing signs? This is the dumbest thing I’ve heard about baseball. If you can’t do it right it’s your fault not the guy reading them.
That’s the whole purpose of reading the other teams signs.
