Heart attacks on the rise among young adults, but many are unaware of risk

Dave Conway had a heart attack in 2018. He was only 30.

The Clintonville, Ohio, resident had been experiencing fatigue and shortness of breath, finally going to the emergency room with what he thought was pneumonia. Instead, he learned he'd had a "widowmaker" heart attack and a 100% blockage in a major artery.

"I thought people who had heart attacks or heart disease were older people who drink and smoke a lot and weigh much more than I did," Conway said.

"Recovery has been really tough, but I'm willing to do whatever my doctors tell me is needed to keep my heart safe in the future," he said in an Ohio State University news release.

Stories like Conway's are becoming more common, with studies showing heart attacks and stroke are on the rise among Americans younger than 40.

Certain healthy habits can help prevent heart problems -- but getting younger adults to accept their risks remains an obstacle.

"It is alarming that younger people don't feel that they're at risk for heart disease, but it's not surprising," said Dr. Laxmi Mehta, director of preventative cardiology and women's cardiovascular health at the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center.

"Most young people think heart disease only happens in old people, but that's not the case," Mehta said in the release.

The medical center surveyed 2,000 Americans, finding that nearly half of those under age 45 believed they were not at risk for heart disease.

Conway himself waited days after symptoms to start seeking treatment, which is not uncommon. The survey found about 32% of Americans aren't confident they would know if they were having a heart attack.

I’ve known people who had heart attacks in their 30’s, too. This happened long before the covid shots.

But, this report claims heart attacks are on the rise for young adults now, which is worrisome.

They’re telling us eggs can do this.

With all that money the CCP has, you’d think they’d hire someone more talented than you.

You have a point there. Every vaccine, every prescription meds, etc have differing effects on different people. Every vaccine in history had adverse effects on some people. In fact no medical procedure is 100% safe. Not even elective plastic surgery to reshape the nose.

But, vaccines usually benefit more people than hurt people. That is why 265+ million Americans opted to get vaxxed for covid.

You are same as a virgin who has opinions on sexual matters.
You have never been vaxxed for covid, yet you have opinions. Confirms shallowness of your intellectual capacity and low IQ.

It helps when you’re told to get vaccinated or lose your job. That tends to increase compliance with the mandate.

You have never been vaxxed for covid, yet you have opinions.

I enjoy the banter and your willingess to defend what you think ... but this comment doesn't make any sense (and it certainly doesn't help support or promote your ideas.)

Is it your position that unless a person is "vaccinated" they must not offer an opinion on the "vaccines" ... as to their potential dangers and lack of effectiveness? I don't understand your reasoning behind your comment. Cheers!

Capitalism at work. Companies are free to make decisions good or bad. They are allowed to go broke with bad decisions.

265+ million Americans volunteered to get vaxxed.
Add up all the anecdotes posted by fear porn posters who are paranoid about the vaccines with zero actual personal experience. When your anecdotes add up to 1 million, ping me a small post.

Just so you know, in case your math is not up to par, 1 million out of 265 million is 0.3%. I other words 99.7% if vaxxed have not reported adverse effects.

So do you think something which is probably 99.7% safe is worth posting 20,000 fear infused posts on FR?

If 99.7% is not high enough for you, you better never check into any hospital.

Wasn’t capitalism when it was mandated by the FedGov.

“For 10 million years our ancestors walked several miles every day….”

Not mine, as that would seem to long pre-date Adam & Eve. But different beliefs for different folks.

“…our ancestors walked several miles every day to find food. Then agriculture was invented 15,000 years ago, and those genes have not adapted to sedentary life style.”

My guess is that in addition to physical activity, it has a lot to do with what, how much and how often modern Americans are eating. Three large meals per day filled with added sugar, starchy vegetables, seed oils, preservatives, food coloring, poly this and poly that, GMO….

Quite the argument you are making there, comrade.

So only humans that have killed other humans can have an opinion on capital punishment?

Also, do you admit you are CCP? You haven’t denied it.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but humans and Chimps have 99%+ same DNA. And Chimps predate Adam and Eve by 50 million years.

You failed to address my point; which is:
Just because a person has not received one of the potentially deadly "vaccines" (even if there should be one death out of 265 million injections is not sufficient to dismiss out-of-hand the "potentially deadly" characterization ... and there are likely many more than a single death attributable directly to the "vaccine" ... with likely more to come), why is such an un-"vaxed" person not allowed to have an opinion on the "vaccines"? (although the Left has attempted that illogical, dismissive tactic with, for example, abortion where a man must not be allowed to have an opinion because they're not a woman ... though who knows what that word means in today's "enlightened" American society.)

BTW - I bet $100 to your favorite charity -- or to mine when I win -- that my "math" is not only "up to par" but that it exceeds -- likely significantly so -- your "math". Not sure how we'd judge this to determine the winner, but be assured that I rarely bet on anything that I calculate to be less than 95% odds in my favor ("just so you know, in case your math is not up to par", that means I win 95 of 100 bets I choose to make.

Seriously, though; lighten up a little e12. Based on the content of your long history of posts, you appear to be a thoughtful person ... it seems, however, that you're just a bit sensitive on the topic of the Fauci Flu "vaccines". CHEERS! ... and Be Well.

Let us go with what Ronald Reagan said, if someone agrees with you on 80% issues, he/she is your 80% friend, not 20% enemy (paraphrasing).

Absolutely!

My version of that is that between two friends -- one who wins half the time and one who loses 80 percent of the time -- I rather go to Vegas with the loser and bet against him!

It's all good, my FRiend. See you in the forum again soon ... on another topic!

As I have said again and again on the covid vaccine issues, I am strongly against government mandates to be vaccinated.
And I encourage all anti-vaxxers to skip the jabs, so we can donate their quota to poorer countries.

My only issue is with size. If 99.7% of vaxxed people have not reported adverse effects from the vaccine, why is this such a big issue here on FR with thousands and thousands of posts?

Why scare people on the fence with ubiquitous fear porn? Why not educate them on size of sample...265+ million vaxxed?

Yes, size matters. Ask any mechanical or structural or civil engineer.

and it has been observed that humans also share 50 percent of their DNA with bananas and 80 percent with dogs

The 99% figure is an interesting factoid for sure. And as some here will know, the Bible says that man was formed out of the slime of the earth. So perhaps some of that slime included then-existing chimp DNA

That 99.7 percent of the “vaccinated” did not report ill-effects from the “vaccines” is not what is at issue. Don’t you understand that the very real concern here is the 800,000 people (0.3 percent times 265 million; .003 x 265E06) whose injuries (and/or deaths) were serious enough to cause their doctor to report and record those damaging “side effects” attributable to the “vaccines” with a government database?

Over three-quarters of a million of your fellow American citizens suffering real physical harm, up to death in some cases, is a huge number! … a magnitude of real human pain and suffering that simply cannot be so casually dismissed based on an arithmetic calculation. At the very, very least, the number of reported injuries and deaths from the “vaccines”, using your numbers, is a serious rebuttal to the medical industry’s and the bureaucratic incessant mantra that the “vaccines” are “safe and effective” (the fiction of their effectiveness against spreading, contracting and suffering with the Fauci Flu being the subject of another debate).

Hello...the vaccines are VOLUNTARY!!!
FBI has not raided anyone’s house if they skipped the jabs.
If you are scared of the vaccine, just skip it.
Why 0.3% paranoid people are posting 99.7% of posts on FR?

There is not a single medical procedure 100% safe. People die in dentist’s chair every day. Why there are no fear porn posts about that? My nephew is a renouned plastic surgeon. He would kill to achieve 99.7% success for elective surgery.

Us from the 99.7% group are happy we had no serious adverse effects and when we did get infected, we recovered fast. In my own case I recovered in 42 hours after onset of symptoms.

I never said the covid vaccines are 100% safe. They can cause trauma for 0.3% of people. I am glad skipping the jabs is not yet a felony here.

Just please skip the jabs if you are scared.
