As a kid I read a mystery novel set in colonial America where this was one of the plot points. Now I am going to have to go see if I can find the book. :)

But apparently it did anger some people because it messed up their account books. Which I find very understand able.

That is an oddity. I mean, that’s what the Mayans did, and they calculated the sync cycles in order to help the New Agers thousands of years in the future. :^) Others do it, insofar as the Hebrew calendar is primarily lunar.
