NBA superstar and Biden-supporter Stephen Curry is opposing the proposed construction of a low-income multifamily unit next to his $30 million mansion, saying he has "major concerns" for his "privacy" and "safety."
Curry, who joined a nonprofit in 2021 focused on "bridging the racial wealth gap," wrote a letter with his wife Ayesha to the city of Atherton, Calif., asking that it reconsider the construction of a 16-unit property near their estate.
"We hesitate to add to the 'not in our backyard' (literally) rhetoric, but we wanted to send a note before today's meeting," the couple wrote in the letter. "Safety and privacy for us and our kids continues to be our top priority."
While the Golden State Warriors guard opposes affordable housing in his own neighborhood, Curry in 2021 joined the nonprofit NinetyToZero, which aims to promote economic equality and opportunity.
"Bridging the racial wealth gap is one of the biggest challenges of our generation," Curry said at the time. "Uncovering solutions and creating opportunities is something I’m profoundly committed to."
Curry is a longtime Democrat. He joined former president Barack Obama for a town hall on racial equality in 2019. A year later, he put his kids in front of a camera during the 2020 DNC to endorse Joe Biden. He gave $10,000 to Colin Kaepernick-linked charities and called Donald Trump’s 2024 run a 'threat."
Atherton officials are racing to meet a Tuesday deadline imposed by the state for cities to submit plans to build more affordable housing. The Currys want the city to scrap the project near their home in favor of others further away.
If their $30 million mansion is not spared its new neighbor, the Currys asked for higher fencing and landscaping between the properties.
"Should that not be sufficient for the state, we ask that the town commits to investing in considerably taller fencing and landscaping to block sight lines onto our family's property," the couple wrote.
LOL proving once again libs are the biggest freakin hypocrites on planet earth
NIMBY........................
To be fair, I wouldn’t want it either.
Its government-mandated, government-enforced, government-funded social-engineering.
Now Curry’s hypocrisy, well that’s a different matter....
“If their $30 million mansion is not spared, its new neighbor, the Currys asked for higher fencing and landscaping between the properties.”

HaHa
If apartment houses were built and filled with illegal aliens—in the wealthiest twenty zip codes—the Democrats would be screaming for a border wall in a hurry.
The solution to most of our problems is to get the rich donors to politicians to personally suffer from the bad policies they support.
None of us do, but were not on the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion band wagon lie this asshat.
IF I had a $30 million dollar house next door I would have bought the property so that it could not be built on.
What did the property next door sell for?
David Packard wanted to build a facility to house the Foundation in Los Altos. The planning dept. responded that his property wasn’t zoned for that. His response was OK, I’ll put in low cost housing. The zoning rules changed.
Steph Curry is PHONIER than LeBron James.
Mr. SJW till it impacts him.
How fake can you get!?
Higher fencing? Doesn’t he know that fences and walls don’t work?
/s
We got ours. So up yours.
Privacy and safety. Why safety? What does he believe about low income people?
Virtue Grandstanding is so others can suffer.
It’s a shame they can’t hear themselves with a logical mind, but liberals don’t have logical minds.
If federal funding is involved in this affordable housing project, then Mr. Curry could at least delay project by doing the following.
He and his wife could argue that such funding is unconstitutional imo, possibly an attempt by desperate Democrats to buy votes using unconstitutional, unaccountable CV19 / omnibus spending to try to stay in power.
In fact, Justice Joseph Story had clarified that "poor laws" are a state power issue, not the business of the feds.
"Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States." —Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
"The power to regulate manufactures is no more confided to congress, than the power to interfere with the systems of education, the poor laws or the road laws of the states [emphasis added]." —Justice Joseph Story, Commentaries on the Constitution 2, 1833.
"From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added]." —United States v. Butler, 1936.
Pelosi: "We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it." (non-FR; 6 sec.)
“Cherish, therefore, the spirit of our people, and keep alive their attention. If once they become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and Congress and Assemblies, judges and governors, shall all become wolves [emphasis added]. It seems to be the law of our general nature.” - Thomas Jefferson (Letter to Edward Carrington January 16, 1787)
The bottom line is this imo. ALL the states desperately need to put a "permanent" stop to unconstitutional federal taxes, and likewise unconstitutional federal interference in the affairs of the sovereign states, by effectively "seceding" from the unconstitutionally big, desperate Democratic-pirated federal government.
The states will "secede" from the corrupt feds by repealing the 16th (direct taxes) and 17th (popular voting for federal senators) Amendments (16&17A).
If the proposed amendment was limited strictly to repealing 16&17A, relatively little or ideally no discussion would be needed before ratification of the amendment imo.
Steph Curry is an absolutely hypocritical jerk. Last year (2022) he and Barack Obama played golf at the prestigious golf course Pebble Beach. Each one used a caddy The youngest caddy confirmed that neither Steph nor Barack gave as much as one dollar in tips.
That is common in the ni....... black community. - Tony Romo
Steph is a hypocrite; he doesn’t care that this housing, with the problems he fears, is next to YOUR middle class home, in fact he advocates it. When it comes to HIS home, however, it is an extreme danger and you need to put it elsewhere so people with far less resources can deal with it and face the depreciation of their home value instead of this phony’s $ 30 million mansion. This is the trash mindset that is running our country.
We grew up near Atherton, Kalifornia. Back then it was, and still is, one of the most affluent areas in the world. We would ride our bikes down their streets. There are large walls, and we would stand on the bicycle seat to try to get a glimpse of the house (mansion). Some of the estates have a front yard with as much grass as a football field. In high school, one of the cheerleaders invited the track team over. She lived in one of the Atherton mansions. I will never forget looking up at the mansion from the pool house. That pool house is bigger than the house where I was raised.
Maybe Curry has a similar pool house he can ‘share’ with those less fortunate. It would be the ‘equitable’ thing to do.
