DALLAS — Stetson Bennett, the former Georgia quarterback who just led the Bulldogs to a second straight national championship, was arrested on a charge of public intoxication early Sunday morning in Dallas, police confirmed to WFAA.
The arrest happened around 6 a.m. Sunday in the 1600 block of Tribeca Way in Old East Dallas, according to police.
Officers responded to reports of a man banging on doors in the area, police said.
When the officers arrived, they found Bennett "and determined he was intoxicated," a police news release said.
A police report said officers were dispatched to the location on a suspicious person call. When they arrived, they found Bennett walking around inside a gated area, the report said.
Bennett told the officers his friend lived at the location, but he was unable to call them, according to the report. Officers then noted that Bennett smelled of alcohol, the report said, and they took him into custody.

‘Tween YEAR, singular, that would be, assuming the best outcome.
Like he’s the only person who has been caught drinking at 25. Big deal. He’s not out shooting, raping, and beating women like some NFL players have. Has he had problems with his drinking prior to this?
I wonder if he’ll be wearing Tennessee Orange in jail.
Belichick will take him
“Has he had problems with his drinking prior to this?”
yes
Jerry got him drunk in Dallas to lower his price to replace Dak,
Jerry loved him some Johnny Football, so he found the next best thing.
Literal humor is what made Zucker movies so funny.
*6ft tall and already 25 years old, I suspect he will not make it as an NFL quarterback*
Sure he will. Think of a #3 QB the 49ers could have used against Philadelphia. He’d have to play other positions as a backup as well as special teams. Think Tasom Hill of the Saints.
Undrafted FA, minimum wage, one and done if he gets into trouble. White players are less of a gamble than blacks who have a ‘known propensity’ to guess what?
Height 6 ft.? I’d say 5’9”. Good draft choice for practice QB or maybe backup QB. I like his spirit and grit. Take a chance on the bad boy stuff.
Doug Flutie was 5’10” and struggled in NFL despite having a great arm.
The press release says Kyler Murray is 5’10”. I don’t buy it.
I mean he only played with
Unitas, Marchetti, Lenny Moore, Berry, Parker, Ameche.
I have to agree
Maybe the NCAA can come up with a new rule for eligibility and allow Bennett to stay and play another year or two for a college team. Maybe he can transfer to a different school and help that team win a championship.
I was young, but I wasn’t stupid…
But I and many others were. LOL.
