Police experts say Tyre Nichols' arrest was filled with procedural errors

Philip Stinson, a criminal justice professor at Bowling Green State University in Ohio, described the initial traffic stop as "highly unusual" for a variety of reasons.

"It was not a normal traffic stop," he told NPR. "They were not in marked vehicles, they were not wearing normal police uniforms, and they pulled him out of the car, got him down on the ground and pepper-sprayed him."

Police are generally trained to use a reasonably necessary amount of force to accomplish an arrest, but the police officers involved went "far beyond that," Stinson said.

Officers are supposed to use the least amount of force necessary to bring somebody into custody, but Stinson said the use of force quickly escalated into deadly territory.

Stinson noted that officers have a duty to render medical aid, but the footage showed very little medical support from medical personnel or officers. It took more than 20 minutes for an ambulance to arrive.

The family should all file civil charges and the Feds should file separate federal charges for murder and violation of civil rights. I’ve seen the song and dance now get after it

Thugs on the street, thugs in uniform, now rich white thugs encouraging looting and rioting.

I wonder if Nichols thought he was being carjacked, at least at first.

Philip Stinson, a criminal justice professor at Bowling Green State University…. Turned in his law license and became a teacher, because he caught caught mishandling client funds.

I read that Tyre had slept with the wife of one of the cops that was on the scene. I bet when this is over we’re going to find out they stalked him and used the traffic stop as an excuse to get to him.

They sure used language like gang members. There’s more to this I think.

Canine officers who track suspects sometimes allow their animals to "Get a taste" of a trackee when they capture him as a reward. Sometimes the animals cannot be controlled. (This is a leftist bi-partisan site that tracks police dog attacks.)

https://www.themarshallproject.org/2020/11/17/we-re-tracking-police-dog-bites-across-the-country

I do not see that this was any different except that they were adrenaline junkie police officers not the dogs. (Where was the lead officer to stop this?)

What is sad is that this is a high crime city that needs policing. I would not want to and do not live in a place that does not have trained and professional policemen. (Where I live does have that.)

I am sorry for the family of Tyre Nicols and all the Democrats who have been trained an conditioned to vote for their party or to accept the vote fraud that keeps the DemSoc party in place.

This was a senseless KILLING/MURDER. I applaud our LEO’s, but then something like this comes along and rubs me the wrong way in a big way. The guy may have been a thug, but this was horrible. I hope they lock up these murderers forever.

“This Memphis situation will keep NPR in full obession mode for the foreseeable future.”

In this case NPR is doing the exact right thing. ‘Obsession?’ An innocent guy was murdered and all you can come up with is ‘obsession?’

Haven’t really paid attention to this yet but we know that a DC cop may have beaten Rosanne Boyland to death gets applauded.

Maybe they thought Tyre was a MAGA conservative. It was sure OK for the capitol cops.
