A Florida Best Buy delivery driver has been found guilty of bludgeoning a 75-year-old customer to death with a rubber hammer and setting her on fire.

Jorge Dupre Lachazo, 24, was convicted by a Palm Beach County circuit judge Wednesday of first-degree murder, burglary and arson following a three-day bench trial, according to court records.

Lachazo faces mandatory life in prison when he’s sentenced on April 5.

Lachazo and another man delivered a washer and dryer purchased from Best Buy to Evelyn Smith Udell’s Boca Raton home on Aug. 19, 2019, officials said.

After installing the appliances, the other man went outside while Lachazo stayed behind to explain to the retired librarian how to use the devices.

Minutes later, the witness reported hearing screams..

Jorge Dupre Lachazo was born in Cuba. In 2014, he told investigators, an uncle sponsored him to come to America. He lived with his mother and stepfather.

His Facebook page, most of it in Spanish, was topped by two proverbial statements: “Not everyone who laughs with you is your friend,” and “Don’t extend your hand twice to the person who bites you.”

The page came down after people posted scathing comments on it both in English and Spanish following his arrest. One said, “I ask myself why something so diabolical and cruel.” Another: “That poor woman didn’t deserve a death like that.”

Dupre Lachazo spent two years at Miami Springs High School, then dropped out and got his GED.

And Best Buy needs its ass hauled through a multi-million dollar lawsuit. No due diligence on their part. This killer was involved with drugs and drug dealers. Didn't Best Buy do a background check or screen the killer for substance abuse? This could have been avoided.
