Maybe; they aren’t saying. Thats the thing about mass extinctions, there’s not a lot of evidence or firsthand accounts.

Yes, of course, many people have, including me. It was at night and suddenly it became bright as day for a second or two. A couple of minutes went by and then a sonic boom that rattled my windows. The rock was found in a neighbors yard.

I think in space it’s an asteroid. In the atmosphere it’s a meteor. On the ground it’s a meteorite.

I think the recent Russian (Chelyabinsk, sp?) meteor was about this size. It was an air burst, and smashed thousands of windows which cut a nimber of people. A year or two ago I was in eastern West Virginia. I heard a huge explosion which sounded like it was over the next hill. There were meteor fragments found somwhere in that region left by that incident.
