'Now or Never' to Stop Shrinking Population: Japan PM Kishida
Channel News Asia ^ | 23 Jan 2023

Japanese Prime minister Fumio Kishida pledged on Monday (Jan 23) to take urgent steps to tackle the country's declining birth rate, saying it was "now or never" for one of the world's oldest societies.

Japan has in recent years been trying to encourage its people to have more children with promises of cash bonuses and better benefits, but it remains one of the most expensive places in the world to raise a child, according to surveys.

Births plunged to a new record low last year, according to official estimates, dropping below 800,000 for the first time - a watershed moment that came eight years earlier than the government had expected.

“And apparently young Japanese are not interested.”

That’s the downside of basing your economy on a con game. Eventually it becomes obvious and the next generation just opts out of being your suckers.

Why you need data when evidence is in plain sight?
India is now more than 1500 Million people now. When I left India in 1960, it was 1/3rd that size. As for food being spicy, any dude who has traveled to India knows it first-hand.

Stop wasting time on useless studies done by PhD students and professors funded to do useless research.

This is a difficult problem.

If critical masses of people simply do not want to have children, for whatever reason, how does that get reversed?

There is anecdotal evidence here in America that many Yuppie types simply would rather not have children.

I suspect the same is true in Japan. And if birth control is as easily available in Japan as it is in America, combined with many young people simply not wanting to get married in the first place, then you end up with what Japan is facing.

Children all over the world have had their normal, God given sex drive shunted or crippled . . . . perhaps permanently . . . . by the continued bombardment of weird sex things . . . lgbqxyz, gender, trans, etc., and boys have become emasculated.

Y'don't have to do too much to girls . . . once they get what they want, they hit the off switch.

Stop forcing two-income households. Encourage two-parent households. The family is supposed to have one working parent and one full-time dedicated parent and spouse.

Until we get back to focusing on the future, we’re destroying humanity. Our children are the future and the future is what our children and their children make it. It’s of utmost importance to focus on raising them to understand the same principles that support future families and their families. Plus, nothing is more blessed by our Creator than the family unit focused on just these principles. He gave this as our goal. This is His will.

Gen 1:28
God blessed them and God said to them: Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it.* Have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and all the living things that crawl on the earth.

Food for all
Gen 8:17
Bring out with you every living thing that is with you—all creatures, be they birds or animals or crawling things that crawl on the earth—and let them abound on the earth, and be fertile and multiply on it.

Gen 9:2-3
Fear and dread of you shall come upon all the animals of the earth and all the birds of the air, upon all the creatures that move about on the ground and all the fishes of the sea; into your power they are delivered. Any living creature that moves about shall be yours to eat; I give them all to you as I did the green plants.

Animals to serve us
James 3:7

For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by the human species,

There are a lot of organizations that promote these things.

In Japan, the U.S. started it. We imposed abortion on them.

U.S. NGOs have gone into Mexico, and they give women a hysterectomy without their knowledge, when they are in the hospital having their first child.

All the sensible comments gathered on this thread demonstrate the clarity of thought that is represented here. Kudos to all.

Demographics is the people version of debt as the currency version, and the whole is entirely related. Too heavy a tax and debt burden is a burden which will be lain down.

Now or never? With an abrogation of Japanese national debt, the nation might have a future. Without that, the massive debt cannot be carried and motivating Japanese to try is impossible, Ditto everywhere.

We could give them the big island of Hawaii-undeveloped. I’d stay there and live Japanese until the volcano erupts.

Australia should offer them a chunk of their big island.

I don’t care what anyone says, “more people” is not the answer. If that’s the house of cards the world is built on it will fall quicker than expected.

The poorest countries tend to have the highest birth rates. Maybe because sex is one of the few joys they have.

The Japanese work their men to death. They get home and have no energy to .... you know. Plus, it’s incredibly expensive. No money left over for kids.

Every country that has become urbanized has seen their birth rate drop dramatically. In an agrarian society, sex is literally the most popular form of entertainment.

Yes I do.

I present, India.

I’m pretty sure that’s circular reasoning, but you get a 10 for conciseness.

That is true, but from what I have seen growing up in a poor country, the poor people simply can’t afford birth control expenses.
