One of the things I noticed, when consuming additional Vitamin D, was the increase in dreams.

In fact, that is what I tell people. They will know if they are getting enough vitamin D if they start having pleasant dreams.

I never noticed nightmares.

I live in Wisconsin and I often eat cheese at night. But I rarely remember my dreams. Nightmares are very rare.

"...the commonly held belief that consuming cheese or other dairy products before bed leads to nightmares."

It's so common that I never heard it before.

Eating high-fat, high-calorie food before bed is not good for anybody. I prefer to stop eating two or three hours before bed and, if I want a snack, a bit of apple or some grapes are best.

Don’t brush teeth before bed. Instead eat a hnk of sharp cheddar and chew it well. In the morning your mouth wil be fresh and no scum on your teeth. As to the dreams, well I’ll pass on addressing that aspect.

“commonly held belief that consuming cheese or other dairy products before bed leads to nightmares.”

In the past, lots of people used to drink warm milk to help them go to sleep.

Take heart amid the deepening gloom, that your dog is finally getting enough cheese.

I’ll have to try this. I haven’t had a nightmare since I was a kid.

I do these sometimes; one time I got $50 and a huge bunch of gourmet ice cream I had to eat.

Sometimes I cut the cheese before bed, does that count?

Eating cheese before bed can cause gastro esophageal reflux.

Which might well trigger nightmares, disturbed sleep, etc.

It can also cause sore throats due to gastro pharyngeal reflux as well if it is bad enough.
