Space issues have become so acute at the Seattle-King County morgue in Washington state that local officials are considering keeping bodies on gurneys and partnering with local funeral homes for storage as emergency stop-gap measures.

“A key indication of just how bad things are … the medical examiner’s office is now struggling with the issue of storing bodies because the fentanyl-related death toll continues to climb,” Seattle-King County Public Health Director Dr. Faisal Khan said at a Board of Health meeting last week, according to KTTH radio.

“Obviously, they have finite space in the coolers they use, and that space in now being exceeded on a regular basis,” Khan said.

Wait until Joe and his minions realize that nobody is paying taxes on the fentanyl profits. That kind of thing is what got Al Capone in trouble.

I have never heard of fentanyl eating bacteria.

but I have read a few articles about how people contaminated with chemo drugs mess up the mulching.

Why is Seattle dead set, on storing corpses? If no relatives are claiming the dead, who were most likely penniless, homeless people with no connections to family, cremate the corpses and intur the ashes. Let local religious folk says some words over them, or not, if desired. This isn’t a brain buster.

Until they can rule out foul play, they need to hold onto the bodies. With Seattle having such an exodus of law enforcement over the last two years, the backlog of cases the detectives work is an issue.

Fentanyl and other opioids don’t just disappear from a dead body. Any slow degradation that doesn’t involve high temperatures will allow drugs to linger.
Can’t just put in a landfill, otherwise any birds or wildlife will ingest and die.

Same for sharks .

Cremation sounds like the way to go.

However, modern landfills are pretty good with all of the liners, etc. Birds can get to the trash but it gets covered up every few hours.

Photos from 2020 at some island in the midst of NYC was interesting with the rows of open trenches used for unclaimed deceased during the worst of covid. The place has a long history of mass burials of poor people.

Used to be a minimum security prison iirc and the prisoners did the burying. Began in the 1800’s iirc.

In lots of states you have to have a concrete vault, so I don’t recall if that had a large vault or what.

“Birds can get to the trash but it gets covered up every few hours.”

If a Bald Eagle gets to it and dies, that literally would make it a federal offense.
For real.

The state supreme court virtually legalized what formerly was called possession of controlled substances. The legislature put in some “stop gap” measures as they felt the court went a bit too far. Not big stop gaps, but some

So the illegal drug market exploded. It is also being served by juveniles as “mules” who now have no bail when arrested.

And the stop gap law mentioned above expires in a few months. The in-session leg is doing nothing to make the stop gap permanent or to expand it.

It will get worse.

Yes and legislature. All of these offices have been under demoncrat control for 30+ years.

If doctors and pharmacies are responsible for overdose deaths from legally-prescribed opioids, WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR FENTANYL DEATHS?

It couldn't POSSIBLY be Beijing Biden, could it?
