Conservative Inc And The Deal With The Daily Wire Devil
JANUARY 20, 2023
This week Steven Crowder made headlines for turning down a 50 million dollar term sheet offered by The Daily Wire. The term sheet, which would have forced Steven to sign over his email list, social media accounts, and revenue streams from his Mug Club, among other things from his life’s work, raised concerns about censorship and the gatekeeping of content creators by large conservative media companies and their owners.
The point of this article is to open your eyes to why your favorite conservative media outlets are not on our side and help you understand that they exist to keep you from discussing ideas that threaten the power of the Regime. These types of exploitative gatekeeping deals are not the outlier; they are the norm. Unlike most of the talking heads I have no gatekeeping contracts and thus can speak freely on these matters and tell you the unfortunate truth that you need to hear.
The Daily Wire is currently trying to gaslight Crowder and make this issue about money or greed when anyone paying attention knows that is not the case. This is a projection on their part because money is indeed what they care about here and in general. They can’t imagine that someone would reject that much money, and it “offends” them. They cry out in pain as they strike Crowder with a terrible one-sided deal for his soul.
It’s not about money, it’s about controlling the narrative.
Clearly, money is not an issue for a man willing to turn down $50 million and go public to dispute the predatory practices of a very large conservative media company. It’s also noteworthy that Steven claims to have been friends with everyone involved for the past decade, so this likely wasn’t an easy decision on his part from any angle. He’s burning bridges here in a big way.
It’s difficult for many people to wrap their heads around what appears on the surface to be a large sum of money. Most of us could never imagine turning down that sum to make Youtube videos. Still, for a creator as big as Crowder with an already established large audience and revenue-generating business, that amount of money over a multi-year period isn’t all that large. Likely, Crowder is already generating millions of dollars annually with his business.

Sadly principles don’t often win. Crowder is a man of principle. That means something.
A lot of conservative media has become watered down red-meat clickbait designed to distract.
The Republicans want money. The Democrats want power. The Republicans use power to get money. The Democrats use money to get power.
The ideology of the Democrats drives their donor funding. The donor funding of the Republicans drives their ideology.
Excellent!
Trust no one and carry a big stick... or something like that.
Truly, trusting any media company is a fools errand.
Elon Musk showed how one person (or company) with deep pockets can destroy, make worse, or improve any social media company but one day when it gets sold it may go the other way.
Gab is one of the best social media companies. I’m happy to see it sticking to Torba’s guiding principles of free speech. Unlike many entities he has not been corrupted by the lure of easy money.
“Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely”
I was on Crowder’s side of this argument until Steven released recorded phone calls with Boering.
That was a douche move.
I was a Mug Club member with The Blaze, but I’m not sure I’ll follow Crowder to his new platform or not.
I’ve heard of this Crowder guy before but never listened to his radio show (or whatever it is).
Anyone here like the guy ? Is his show any good
Who is Boering? What’s the story with the phone call recordings?
I hate to be a Grinch, and I love Crowder and will continue to do so. But as to Torba and Gab, which I hadn't yet read at any length, I'm quite disappointed. My Nut Meter pegged so badly I'll have to get a tech in here next week to reset it.
For all I know, what Torba is arguing in his vision of the ConservaSphere could be true, or mostly true. I've never heard that argument before. But Gosh, is he always like this? Dude, prove your case with the appearance of objectivity or close your mouth. You're smearing those who might agree with you--just by acting unhinged.
I have no interest in this but I did watch Jeremy do a video where he went line by line of the the agreement with Crowder. I have no perspective to judge fairness of the contract, but Jeremy putting the contract out in public does indicate he was negotiating in good faith. If Crowder doesn’t want to sign with them, he shouldn’t. Jeremy also mentioned several times that this about making money for his company. I just can’t see a problem with that.
I am always reminded of a contract I was reviewing as part of a business deal some years ago. One provision of the contract was somewhat similar to what Crowder is complaining about … and I wanted it removed from the contract. When I told this to my lawyer, he said: “You may not like that item in the contract, but it’s not an unreasonable demand. If I was representing the other party in this contract I would never let them sign it without that provision.”
Both sides agreed to make a minor change to the provision, and everything worked out well in the long run.
Give me the $50 million and I’ll gladly turn over my social media accounts, my email contacts, and even my beloved mug.
The Left bought out Drudge and all Latin radio stations here in Florida to control thought.
Shapiro deserves a figurative kick in the arse:
But Peterson resorted to a$$-kissing his newly found Jewish benefactors. So Andrew called out his hypocrisy, that's fair game.
He’s now the Dave Chappelle of conservative media!
Up to 350 to 500+ network requests (see top right on toolbar in image, under browser icons: In Firefox hit F12 key and then Network) in one minute for Gateway Pundit story on "Biden Will Require Essential Travelers Crossing US Land Borders..."
Usually GP shows about 200 so this must be a bigger story.
The story linked to from FR = 4 network requests:
The FR articles page, set (so to Settings) at 250 excerpts (up to 100 words each) per page = 3 network requests:
In Firefox hit F12 key and then Network then F5 then see Requests on bottom left) and wait about a minute
Unfortunately, during my engineering and quant undergrad education, I had to be forced-educated to take a smattering of humanities courses, which I resisted until the last moment where the only thing left was to sign up for a year of History of Western Civilization.
Briefly, here's the takeaway:
Entire societies play out in years and decades.
A larger picture of historical judgment focuses on the long-term.
Roe v. Wade played out over a half century.
What to see is Torba calling attention to history in development of serpent behavior disguised in conservatism, slithering around strong MAGA voices, readying its fangs behind a seductive poisoning of large amounts of fiat.
Torba's thesis is, the conservative movement needs to resist demise by seduction.
Hard to do, but Donald Trump is a prime example, as is the example of this piece, Steven Crowder. There are many others. Need to highlight their defiance and sacrifice.

I think so. He's basically a comedian. Pretty edgy. He's the "Change my mind" guy.
