Some Pink Floyd fans are up in arms about the rainbow colors that have accompanied the band's classic Dark Side of the Moon album artwork for nearly five decades.
The legendary music group announced Thursday that it was releasing a special 50th anniversary edition of what is already one of the best-selling albums of all time. The announcement was made on social media networks including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, featuring an adapted image of the iconic album cover with the prism and rainbow colors.

...not this Freeper...
(Yes I know different band). Don’t Fear the Freeper!
BTW, More Cowbell.
I think what bothers people is the intentional effort to inject something like homosexuality into something like a 50-year old album that people enjoyed for the music in it.
I understand it is possible for some graphic artist commissioned to work on the new album cover, who added that just grabbed some hi-res stock graphic to work off, but I am a bit dubious about that after seeing those two images you posted.
If I were commissioned to do a high-profile piece like that, I would have made it exactly identical to the smallest possible detail I could, including the colors and numbers of colors.
Personally, I loved Pink Floyd until I unknowingly (about his politics) went to a Roger Waters concert back in 2004, and have been unable to even listen to the music anymore.
oh for crying out loud, isn’t it a spin of their earlier album cover where it was a prism, not a rainbow? Great music.
I prefer “Meddle”, myself.
It went with Pluto....

Good Lord, how on earth is this considered newsworthy?
I’m not even sure if I saw indigo and violet next to each other if I would be able to say what was what. When in place between blue and violet it makes sense, but if you showed me an “indigo” paint swatch I’d probably call it purple.
I was going to post that link but since its a naked 11 year old girl I decided against it.
That’s the woke problem, they see all things through a gay prism. I enjoyed that album and used to set my record player to repeat while, lets just call it, meditating with my girlfriend, back in the 70’s.

Here's a song when he was in Staind (He's the singer):
Roger is entitled to his political views and all, but I don’t like the way he treated Richard Wright.
Compare and contrast with Gilmour, who brought Wright back, and also was the one who made sure Syd Barrett was taken care of for the rest of his life.
Yep, the old NBC peacock. Never even watch NBC anymore. 🙂
I was doing the same type of things in the 70’s. It’s kinda funny trying to think about how the gay prism changed since the 70’s. When I was in HS, I certainly knew what gay, “homosexual”, meant. But the typical usage of the word was mocking a friend, as in “that’s gay!” I know I couldn’t pick out someone who was gay back then. That ability didn’t happen until the 80’s. Now kids know about this stuff from elementary school and onwards. It constantly surrounds them. When we were kids, it was the furthest thing on my mind. The major task at hand was pursuing girls.
Anything like Sergio Mendez and Brazil 66 FOOL ON A HILL cover?

I showed it to my girlfriend back in 1969 and she got embarrassed seeing it.
I later found a copy with a price tag stuck right over the interesting part.
I play it on digital these days, but I still have the vinyl. No turntable, though.
I’m talking about the traditional rainbow colors
I remember the Santana “Abraxas” album had a naked woman on the cover.
