An attorney for Derek Chauvin is planning to ask an appeals court Wednesday to throw out the former Minneapolis police officer’s convictions in the murder of George Floyd, arguing that numerous legal and procedural errors deprived him of a fair trial.
Floyd died on May 25, 2020, after Chauvin, who is white, pinned the (b)lack man to the ground with his knee on his neck for 9½ minutes. A bystander video captured Floyd’s fading cries of “I can’t breathe.” Floyd’s death touched off protests around the world and forced a painful national reckoning with police brutality and racism.
Hennepin County Judge Peter Cahill sentenced Chauvin to 22½ years after jurors found him guilty of second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. Chauvin later pleaded guilty to a federal civil rights charge and was sentenced to 21 years in federal prison, which is he is now serving in Arizona concurrent with his state sentence.
While Chauvin waived his right to appeal under his federal plea deal, he continued to pursue his appeal of his murder convictions in state court. Even if he wins his appeal, his federal sentence will keep him in prison longer than his state sentence likely would because he would qualify for parole earlier in the state system. But a successful appeal could set a precedent for future cases involving police officers.
Chauvin’s attorney for the appeal is William Mohrman, who often pursues conservative causes including challenges to President Joe Biden’s election victory and to COVID-19 vaccine mandates. …

Is Chauvin guilty of murder in the way that Patricia Krenwinkel was?
NO
BUT with that said. Derek Chauvin was a major d*ck. He was the purest representation of the “Big Dick” cop attitude that is prevalent among many LEO’s and one of the main reasons I chose not to go into LE after the military.
There was just something wrong watching big dick chauvin kneeing a guy for 8 minutes in broad daylight in the middle of the street while the officers didn’t do anything. yes technically Floyd was innocent until proven guilty.
As soon as Sir Floyd was no longer a threat, he should have been cuffed and tossed into the cop car (or ambulance if he was OD’ing) but no Chauvin had to have his sunglasses up while playing mr. tough guy with his knees
yeah Floyd was a pig and would have met the same fate (death) eventually but the damage chauvin caused will reverberate for a loooonnng time.
St. George of Fentanyl?
So, your overall impression of our military is what?
today’s military?
a joke
I was part of a well trained, well disciplined fighting force.
But in Somalia in 1993 and Haiti in 1994, we weren’t kneeling on captured hostile actors. we simply detained them, and turned them over to the MP’s or CID or whomever we needed to.
We acted professionally and our adversaries saw that and respected our professionalism.
A few facts..
George Floyd was seated in the rear of a Minneapolis Police Vehicle, when he started to complain of not being able to breathe and was removed at his own request.
Officer Chauvin followed MPD training and protocol for dealing with an individual in custody who is believed to be experiencing “excited delirum” brought on by drug intoxication.
An ambulance was called almost immediately after the request from Floyd to be removed from the Vehicle due to difficulty breathing.
The ambulance was delayed, partially because of the crowd that was gathering and becoming violent, forcing them to “stage away” from the scene.
Chauvin’s knee was never on Floyd in way that would interfere with Floyd’s ability to breathe. In fact, as proven in court, Chauvin’s knee rested on Floyd’s shoulder, never on his neck.
The initial findings reported by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner showed that Floyd died due to cardiac arrest brought on by “acute drug toxicity”. Only after the Politicians got involved did the findings change to lay the blame at Chauvin’s feet.
Chauvin may be a “dick” as you say, but he’s sure as hell not a murderer. He’s as much of a political prisoner as the J6 folks.
I say Chauvin is a classic sadist: a person who derives pleasure, especially sexual gratification, from inflicting pain or humiliation on others.
When Chauvin put his knee on Floyd’s neck, he put his hands down his pants pocket, as if to pleasure himself.
He is the type of individual who should never, ever be in a position of power or authority.
Chauvin’s only role in life, is to clean toilets.
Chauvin’s knee was never on Floyd’s neck. It rested on the upper part of Floyd’s shoulder. That is the exact position that Floyd should have been placed in, per Minneapolis Police Department training and protocols for an individual believed to be experiencing “excited delirium”. Chauvin did exactly what he was trained to do. But you keep believing the mainstream media.
There are few things worse than an a$$hole with a badge.
I don’t know if Chauvin was one, but he sure didn’t help his image. The police also HAD TO DEAL WITH AN UNRULY CROWD gathering around them. Their primary focus probably shifted to their own safety.
This is absolutely, unequivocally false — to the point where you should ask the moderators to delete your post. This website lost a ton of credibility when nitwits starting posting that sh!t shortly after the George Floyd incident first made the news.
Go back and look at the video clips of the incident again. Chauvin’s hands aren’t in his pockets. He’s resting them on his waist and thighs. It’s just not obvious because he’s wearing dark pants and police-issue black gloves.
Ya think...
That's untrue.
EVERYTHING you said!
Chauvin was RAILROADED!
The ONLY thing Chauvin was guilty of was DOING HIS JOB!
“I can’t breathe, I took too much fentanyl”
George Floyd was a BOD POS (Better off DEAD)! I would like to thank Derek Chauvin for ridding us of this worthless POS, but I can’t because Derek Chauvin had NOTHING to do with George Floyd’s death.
main reasons I chose not to go into LE after the military.
When I got out of the Navy in 1992, I applied to the Houston Police Department. I was actually interviewed (by a Sergeant Gonzales), and told that while I was qualified, that their ratio was off and I would be at best wait-listed to join an academy class as I was Caucasian. Even though I specifically am mixed ethnicity (Caucasian, Native American and African American, my skin is white).
So, never thought of it again, and realized even back then that the police are all about image.
“Chauvin may be a “dick” as you say, but he’s sure as hell not a murderer. He’s as much of a political prisoner as the J6 folks.”
that I agree with 100%
Chauvin was a 100% dick
Chauvin was a 0% murderer
Chauvin is 100% a political prisoner
Floyd was a 100% waste of oxygen
That’s all true but still the donut muncher was railroaded by the burakrauts .🤨
