An overview of the substation attack in Moore County, North Carolina in December 2022.

----

This event highlights the need for making critical substations more secure and also making the grid more robust so that someone can’t rob tens of thousands of people of their lights, heat, comfort, and livelihood for four days with just a few well-placed bullets.

Security means that you don't have to rely on one source of energy that can be sabotaged by terrorists, remote controlled by the utility company, or by the government energy agency.
Install natural gas in your home, except in :
New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, California, Washington State, or Oregon.
Or, rely on a wood burning stove.

RO-BUSTED grid is more like it. But just plug in the old EV and everything will be A-otay. 👌

There was a time not long ago you got a “light bill” not a “power bill”.

It is time we return to this, gas for hot water, cooking, and heat. electricity for lights, refrigeration, and entertainment.

A power outage returns to an inconvenience, not a life threatening occurance.

I have a gas furnace as well, but I now have a propane and gasoline duel power generator which was purchased after the freezing weather in Texas in February 2021. It’s big enough to run my heater, fridge, and TV at the same time. The cost was around $1500. I have mine connected to the natural gas line. If you don’t have one I would highly recommend it.

The link below is for Mr. Buddy heaters. In case you have not heard of them, they have propane models that are designed to work indoors. Well worth the $100-$300 they cost to keep a room toasty if you don’t want to invest in the generator.

PLUS attacks on critical public infrastructure absolutely need to be a Federal capital offense ...

that’s pretty much how the Brits handled the Luddites ...

Not too many years ago, my town in Oregon tore up a lot of the streets to put in LNG pipeline.

Where the connection hose/shut-off is for the furnace you can add a tee with a second shut-off valve for a portable gas heater, a handy friend can do that.

In a blackout you get your ventless gas heater out of the garage and connect it for some heat.

Hi.

We have gas appliances. Of course what you said was true, with a slight caveat

Our gas stove can be lit and operational for heat and cooking during a power outage.
