The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were eliminated from the postseason Monday night after being crushed by the Dallas Cowboys, 31-14.
The win sends the Cowboys to San Francisco to play against the 49ers in the divisional round of the playoffs.
The Cowboys’ win was huge but the bigger story to come from this game seems to be centered around Tom Brady. The 45-year-old may have played in the final game of his legendary football career.
When the seven-time Super Bowl champion jogged off the field, he tipped his cap to the crowd as to say “thank you.” He then stopped by his parents to give them both a kiss.
In the post-game press conference, Brady thanked the Tampa Bay Buccaneers organization and their fans for making him feel welcomed and respected when he joined them. He also expressed his appreciation to the members of the press for the work they do covering the sport.
The way I see it, Brady was motioning final goodbyes to the Tampa Bay fans, their media members and perhaps to the game of football for the last time.
Considering his NFL resume, I don’t see any reason for him to return for a 24th season. According to NBC Sports, Brady is already the holder of multiple NFL records.
To name a few, Brady is the NFL’s leader in:
Quarterback wins (251)
Passing touchdowns (649)
Passing yards (89,214)
Completions (7,753)
Division titles (19)
Pro Bowl selections (15)
Super Bowl victories (7)
Super Bowl MVP’s (5)
Super Bowl appearances (10)
I believe Brady is undoubtedly the greatest quarterback of all time. His accolades speak for themselves. If he were to step away from the game, he would, of course, be a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
With nothing else left to prove, I believe Brady’s next logical move would be to join the Fox Sports broadcast team. Last May, Brady agreed to a 10-year contract worth over $375 million with Fox to become their lead NFL analyst. For the kind of money he’ll get in broadcasting and after accomplishing all there is to accomplish as an NFL player, I think he’ll finally ride off into the sunset.
If I were to bet, I would say that his playing career is over and that he’s going to Fox. That said, no one knows what’s next except for him. Time will tell for #12.
One of my favorite baseball players growing up was Willie Mays at the end of his career he was traded to the Mets, it was sad watching a once great player who could barely run
And who even thinks about Joe Montana’s time in Kansas City?
He's got the shanks.
Brady benefited from playing in an era where roughing the passer meant touching his facemask and getting pushed to the ground too hard.
His career wouldn’t have lasted as long under the rules that Bradshaw, Staubach and Stabler played where a Mean Joe Green or Randy White could hit the QB so hard he’d seen stars for the rest of the game.
But I’ll give him this, he gets the ball out quickly so he’s not a sitting duck
No one said he was a saint. But if you read what the guy eats and how he trains, he’s got more discipline in his little finger than most men in their little ... finger.
Cosell loved the sound of his own voice. My pop hated him. Was glad he got kicked off for his “little monkey” comment.
Cancel culture bit it’s first liberal victim!
They'll likely win, but they won't demolish them. Dallas has a knack for playing to the opponents level ... whether good or bad. But, if they play like they did against Washington ... that's another story.
Johnny Unitas was traded to the Chargers at the end of his career, seeing him wear powdered blue high top cleats
It had to kill Cosell that Ali was a Reagan supporter.
“Give him a few weapons and he can still be a decent QB.”
Likely go to Miami. They offered him a part ownership deal and plenty of offensive weapons.
Favre’s wheels have really come off.
I did not know that.
IIRC, Maher was cut after he missed a bunch of playoff kicks the last time he was with Dallas.
Apparently, January/February kicking is not his forte!

He was poorly defended
Hell go to another time
Schultz and the tall skinny black WR are not chopped liver
Prescott had time after the snap to post here
Brady ain’t never been a scrambler
He needs a decent pocket
And Cowboys secondary covered well must be added
Man did the kicker survive till morning
I hope they had someone with him
I’ve never seen such
I’m a Mets fan and remember his last season- ‘73, when the Mets made the World Series. And Willie contributed. The Mets retired his number last year- which really wasn’t deserved.
I wouldn’t go that far. Brady set the record this year for most completions in a season. Granted, the season is one game longer now, but he’s still performing at a high level.
But last night he sucked.
The season is also 17 games now.
I am starting to think though that the Giants may be making one of those improbable SB runs, like they did with Eli. Daniel Jones looked really good against the Vikings, although yes, the Vikes stink on defense. But I think they can win in Philly.
