HELP!!! Kidney Stone. How do I lessen the pain and pass quickly?

Experienced a kidney stone 25 years ago. Doctor at that time went in invasively to get it and remove

Three nights ago, I was struck with another kidney stone attack. Lasted about 2 hours in the middle of the night.

24 hours later. Another one. Could feel the pain and the stone moving farther south.

Another one early this morning, still painful but I believe stone is making progress.

Refuse to go to any clinic or hospital, what do my wise freeper friends suggest to speed up the process and alleviate the pain.

And no ibuprofens if you are on blood thinners.

Advising anyone to take even over the counter meds is dangerous. Anyone taking advise about medical conditions from strangers on the internet deserves what they get.

This person needs to go to the hospital or at least his PCP.

Vicodin, oxy or any pain killer derived from what God created, like Opium

“Avoidance of the medical-industrial criminal complex is a smart move.”

Absolutely.

In a medical emergency, come to Free Republic and put your health in the hands of people who have no clue what they’re talking about.

The only thing smarter than that is asking the same question on Democratic Underground, there’s some high level ciphering going on in the heads of that bunch.

Seriously though, refusing to seek medical care for this is a good way to turn a relatively minor problem into a major one. It’s just stupid.

Ultra sound and Tamsulosin (Flomax)

Or the wives tale - drink a cup of olive oil...

Yeah I’ve heard the pain can be similar to giving birth, I have greater respect for women now knowing how that must feel.

“But, people wish to believe the medical folks are witch doctors. Those people apparently also want kidney damage and a dissected ureter.”

*Some* hereon apparently feel it’s worth sacrificing a kidney or two to teach the medical profession a lesson for lying about the vax.

My wife went through labor with no meds. That sucked. A lot.

That terrified me. Lol.

There’s a reason why mortality rates for common conditions used to be much higher.

I once read a book called The Century of the Surgeon, by Jurgen Thorvald, about medical advances such as anesthesia and asepsis that took place between the 1840s and 1940s. Before then, a lodged kidney stone was an experience that very few survived.

Drink plenty of beer. My doctor actually told me this method. Keeps fluid flowing through kidneys and bladder and numbs the pain at the same time. Made sense to me and I tried it. Worked in 4 hours.

Drink lots of water and get medical attention if it doesn’t pass.

I deal with kidney stones on a regular basis. If you can tolerate Ibuprofen, take 800mg, not to exceed 2400mg in 24hr. Now, for the fun part which, though it may seem silly, actually speeds things along... Pace the floor, walking with as heavy a step as you can manage. You will feel the stone moving. Gravity, and your heavy footed movement will help get the stone through the ureter to the bladder. Once the stone is in the bladder, the worst is over. Drink as much water as you can tolerate. Once you feel the urge to empty your bladder, hold it as long as you can. Volume and pressure will help you pass the stone from your body. Believe me... Volume and pressure are your friend, here. The more you have, the less time it will take the stone to leave once it starts the trip. My last stone was actually 4.5mm, and I felt it as it left, but there was no pain on the way out... I swear I heard it hit the porcelain of the toilet.

If only women had something as painful as stones to endure, they would know what we men have to go through! j/k

Pancreatitis. On the way to a family vacation in Yosemite my pancreas exploded.

This is way more painful than it sounds.

It's been compared to childbirth, but a woman who had both assured me it was more painful than childbirth.

Good thing, or we'd all be only children.

Not j/k...

The pain will wear you down and you will cry like a baby. Call your DR and get pain pills until it passes.

[[though it may seem silly, actually speeds things along... Pace the floor, walking with as heavy a step as you can manage.]]

Nope- not silly at all- that’s what i do as i can’t sit or lay down- so i grab my crutches and walk in circles aroudn the kitchen island bar- kidney stones absolutely drain me of strength, and by the end, I’m in need of crutches just to stand and keep moving-

[[Once the stone is in the bladder, the worst is over.]]

Sometimes- sometimes though it really gets bad once it’s there- depends on how jagged and or pointed the stones are- but yeah, almost always it’s a relief when you feel it move ‘to the front’, and the backpain stops-

[[I swear I heard it hit the porcelain of the toilet.]]

Even smaller stones can be heard hitting toilet-
