First They Came For My Showerhead And I Did Nothing, Then They Came For My Light Bulbs And I Did Nothing, Now They Want My Gas Stove And …

The news that the federal government is seriously considering a ban on the sale of gas stoves caught many normal Americans off guard. It shouldn’t have. Nor should they believe it when a regulator says they won’t actually ever ban the thing.

In recent decades, regulators have wormed their way into every corner of our lives – banning some products, ruining others, and pricing others out of reach of working families – all allegedly for our benefit. The only thing that’s surprising is that they hadn’t targeted gas stoves earlier.

This week, the Consumer Product Safety Commission Commissioner Richard Trumka Jr. said that gas appliances – used in 40 million U.S. homes and every commercial kitchen on the planet – are in fact a “hidden hazard” that could be banned if they can’t be “made safe.”

A ban, he said, “is a powerful tool in our toolbox and it’s a real possibility here, particularly because there seem to be readily available alternatives already in the market.”

Trumka points to research claiming that gas stoves are linked to childhood asthma. But as National Review points out, the “research” was “funded by RMI, an environmental group with the radical goal of reducing greenhouse-gas emissions by 50% within the next seven years,” and it “was not based on any actual scientific research into the effects on the body of having a gas stove in the house during normal use.”

In other words, this is junk science, pure and simple. Yet, instead of attacking this flagrant display of misinformation, the ignoramuses in the mainstream press are all too happy to amplify it.

That’s because the real reason for talking up a federal ban on gas stoves has nothing to do with health and safety. It has everything to do with the climate “crisis.”

Both of those are assault ovens to Trumka, Jr.

Good move. I’ve read they’re restricting production and prices will skyrocket.

I’ve got R-11 and R-22 on the shelf also. Some of the cans are getting rusty LOL.

Just remember that drinking water and wearing shoes are “linked to” childhood asthma also.

And reduced water washers.,/p>

I don’t think it occurred to a one of them that people would just do more, smaller loads. Nobody is going to do laundry to have it not some out clean.

Which is why we just bought a Speed Queen commercial washer. You can fill that baby full of water almost to the top of the tub. Simple dials, just like washing machines made decades ago.

It started with Daylight Savings time in the ‘60s.

I haven’t slept right since!

And those stupid lightbulbs they forced us to buy don’t last like they promised!
I just take the old ones back to Lowes or Walmart and drop them in their carts. Let them dispose of that crap!

Back in the 60s in Michigan, you could turn in your burned out light bulbs and get free replacements at the utility office.

Then they took the lead out of gasoline. Destroyed heads in millions of ‘50s and ‘60s cars and trucks forcing people to buy little plastic bubble cars that they couldn’t afford.

But the too-big-to-fail-government-backed car companies gladly financed them with loans that outlived the cars.

Don’t forget they took your great 3-5 gal porcelain throne & forced you to use the minimal 1.6 gal (multi flush) toilet to save water

We have one of those too and love it.

And we live in an area that has plenty of water and have a well that did just fine during a recent dry spell that gave others problems with theirs.

Don’t forget the laundry and dishwashing detergent. Or the A/C coolants.

And now they're forcing 15% ethanol on us which will absolutely destroy the small, gas-powered engines we use in lawn equipment.

"Just buy an electric mower!" They'll tell us.

It is a war on convenience perpetrated by a class of people who don't cook their own food, wash their own clothes, or mow their own lawns.

Best part of the story comes in older apartment bldgs, where the sewer stacks are a sanitary “cross” (90 degree connection) instead of the newer “y” (45 degree angle). Shoots the neighbors crap right into your bowl if you have a fancy 800 dollar Toto high velocity low flush model.

“That’s because the real reason for talking up a federal ban on gas stoves has nothing to do with health and safety. It has everything to do with the climate “crisis.””

Sadly, most conservatives are unable to process the above, and instead assume that ending gas stoves IS NOT part of a broader plan.

We need another revolutioin to throw this entire government out and start over with people who will promote freedom. (Unrealistic, I know.)

I’m pissed because they took away hot water rinses in washing machines, and some require cold water only for the wash and the rinse.

When I lived in LA, I would purchase great shower heads when I visited home in KC.
