Can boiled peanuts help cure peanut allergies? (Yes)

Because heat can affect the structure and immunoreactivity of peanuts, researchers recently tested whether a therapy using sequential doses of boiled peanuts followed by roasted peanuts may help children overcome peanut allergies. Their open label, phase 2, single arm clinical trial, generated promising results.

For the trial, 70 children aged 6–18 years old with peanut allergies received 12-hour boiled peanuts for 12 weeks, 2-hour boiled peanuts for 20 weeks, and roasted peanuts for 20 weeks, to a target maintenance dose of 12 roasted peanuts daily.

Fifty-six of the 70 (80%) participants became desensitized to peanuts. Treatment-related adverse events were reported in 43 (61%) participants, 3 of whom withdrew from the trial.

"Oral immunotherapy using boiled followed by roasted peanuts represents a pragmatic approach that appears effective in inducing desensitization and is associated with a favourable safety profile," the authors wrote.

Yes, a lot of people like them.

Many LOVE them. I'm one of them!

My son has an allergy to all nuts. Whenever we go out we take some Benadryl and an Epi pen and we make it a point to let a restaurant know that our son has an allergy when placing our order.
Both my wife and I love boiled peanuts but its been ages since we’ve had any. Small sacrifice though.

Try pouring a can of them in a sauce pan, reboil them on a stove and drain. I like them! Better than roasted

Boiled Peanuts are Georgia Caviar! Correctly applied, they can cure just about anything.

(Most applications are some combination of opening the shell and eating their salty goodness.

YMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!

All the studies were tainted? I was reading research studies, working in a research hospital, and there were multiple sources. Maybe I was in another dimension, or Mandela Effect.

Lemme guess, you ate them out of a can?

You have to buy them from a roadside stand with two good ol boys with a propane cooker.

Eating boiled peanuts is like eating boogers.

I love them roasted, though.

No, actually my Marine brother (RIP) brought them to me from South Carolina as he thought them a delicacy.

Had never heard of 'Southern caviar' but I'm a huge roasted peanut fan so I tried them.

I will never put another one in my mouth ever again.

Sorry, not sorry.

LOL< I get it.

I make Hot Cajun ones in the slow cooker a couple times a year and enjoy them with my beers.

But I always eat too many and they do a number on my stomach.
