According to Hoedel’s book, the deaths were the result of Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, a genetic condition passed through generations.
“It is known from Elvis’ autopsy that he was ‘a carrier’ for this disorder,” the Michigan-based author wrote, stressing that it “can have debilitating outcomes, even as a carrier.”
Such “genetic complications” then “impacted [Elvis’] entire life,” Hoedel wrote — saying it “led to poor health, impacted brain function, compromised bodily functions and damaged organs.”
While it was written more than two years before Lisa Marie’s death this week, Hoedel noted that the King’s daughter had complained of similar ailments as her dad suffered, specifically intestinal problems that she said often left her “chronically constipated.” Elvis also suffered from bowel issues.
Elvis’ health woes may well have been why he started popping pills, Hoedel suggests, leading “to an addiction to the very thing that had helped him.”
“Often he is dismissed as just another rock ‘n’ roll drug addict,” the author said — while suggesting that instead his “fate was set on the morning he was born.”
“Elvis certainly was a victim of his own DNA,” she concluded her book, saying it left him — and other members of the family — “destined to die young.”

Lisa Marie Presley could never escape her father's massive, massive shadow and, as such, lived as a sad booze and drug-drenched trainwreck her entire adolescent and adult life. She burned through marriages, a $100 million fortune, and lost her oldest son to suicide.
That she died at 54 (outliving her father) really comes as no surprise to anyone who watched her eternally tabloid-documented life throughout the years.

The A1a Genetic disorder is often misdiagnosed. My girlfriend was diagnosed with various breathing disorders her entire life ( since 6 months), and only at age 55 , because a pulmonologist asked if she would participate in a UF genetic study was her A1A diagnosed. Now she gets an enzyme infusion once a week and she has ten times the energy. What occurs is this enzyme allow the long to maintain it’s flexibility. A1A results in your body. The miracle is that this was finally diagnosed right as the granddaughters came along, so she’s finally got the elephant off her chest and can keep up with the terrible trio.
Except for this issue related to Elvis and his lineage has been the topic of discussion before the vaccines. I wouldn’t automatically chalk this up to misdirection.

It’s autosomal inheritance with co-dominance. Generally, people need two “bad” copies of the gene, or one “bad” copy and one “weak” copy, to have any symptoms. Even with two copies of the “bad” gene, most symptoms don’t show up until the 20’s-50’s and can be confused or overshadowed by other diseases of the lungs and liver that hit at that age with certain behaviors (drinking, smoking, drug use). Specifically, constipation is a known complication of chronic opioid use, emphysema of heavy or long-term smoking, and fatigue and jaundice of alcohol and drug abuse with or without hepatitis.
All of these sound like the stereotypical image of the hard-driving rock star, so going with the Willie Sutton school of bank robbing, alpha-1-anti-trypsin deficiency as the problem with Elvis or his progeny seems less likely.

The woman was 54 with probably double that in real world miles on the chassis. If this was 5 years ago, who would have batted an eye?

Well, you can ask addicts or the insane if they are ok, it rarely helps. I am sure at least some people have asked Lisa if she was ok.
I am not saying she was an addict or insane, just saying, a simple ask here and there when someone has serious, serious problems doesn’t do much.
Loving concern expressed by those close to her might.

Cousins marrying might be a problem for children of the couple, giving them a higher likelihood of a double dose of a bad recessive gene.
It isn’t a problem for the great grand children, they aren’t at higher likelihood than the general population to get a double dose.
(Centuries of cousin marriage or a small founder population increase the likelihood of recessive genetic diseases.)
