“What is with everyone thinking they deserve a tip now?”
It’s called the Obama effect.
This is just outrage over nothing. When I pick up a pizza, a screen asks me what I want to tip - 20%, 15%, 10% or 0%
I always pick zero.
If some jerk wants to make a stink about that, he needs therapy.
Yes, tipping has gotten out of control and ridiculous. I tip the minimum when service is involved and NEVER tip carryout order. NEVER.
Hey, if the workers don’t like the pay, they should simply find a new job and stop whining.
Fair wage? Stopped reading right there.
Don’t want to work as a delivery person with the accompanying low wage? Better yourself and get a better job.
Pathetic.
My Wendy’s has a tip jar. Starbucks has them. My dry cleaner even has one. I don’t tip any of them. I won’t use Door Dash etc because they ask for tip before you even get the food delivered!! No tip could equal a hocker in the food
That’s the fee for not spitting in the next pizza you order. I’m not joking either.
Illegals crossing the borer are now asking for tips.
If you don’t want your food messed with, tip.
I stopped going to Subway after the clerk accosted the guy in front of me for not tipping.
If the companies want people to work, then pay them. If they can’t, then the company will fail.
I do not tip for a pickup/carryout order. I tip for delivery.
Alexandra Blogier
That’s her name? The blogger’s name is Blogier?
yeah. The usual auto-prompt on their interactive credit-card screens are 10%, 15%, 20%
I went to one place that prompted 25%, 30%, 40%!
Cheeky bastards!
“it falls on customers in the US to make up for the shortcomings of our government and employers.”
I’ve been paying PLENTY for the shortcomings of our government for decades.
But not sure what this has to do with how much an establishment pays it’s employees unless it’s built-in bias about raising the minimum wage.
I don’t care what the reasoning is.
If I’m picking it up and taking it with me, there is no tip coming. Don’t like it? Fine, I’ll spend my cash elsewhere.
Noted this over the last several years and just laughed while choosing no tip.
20% huh?
Gee, I guess we were getting off cheap when “The Big Guy” only took 10%.
At So-Fi Arena in L.A., they asked if you wanted to tip
20% (or more) to the cashier ringing up the food after you bring it to them. Basically, it would be the same as tipping the person at the register at the supermarket. F that.
I tip 10% for takeout, 20% for full service. Restaurant employees get paid crap. If it is a restaurant where I know the wait staff and manager, 20% is my minimum. Takeout (not pizza) requires some effort to package and check.
Totally agree! It’s out of hand. Everyone is asking for tips now days. Sorry ... I save tips for those that actually tend to my table in a dine-in restaurant that get paid a crappy hourly wage that tip earners get. I’m not tipping some $10 per hour pizza counter person.
No.
I'll throw in a couple of bucks for the cooks, but not 20%.
That's sit-down meal rate.
