The Russian Defense Ministry has demoted General Surovikin to deputy head of the united Russian troops in Ukraine & Valery Gerasimov is the new head.
This occurs just after his near predecessor Lapin has been promoted.

Demoted for wasting $8 billion in cruise missiles on infrastructure attacks that were supposed to force Ukraine to give Putin what he wants.
Also, the fall guy for losing Kherson.
Random Russian General Promoter.
interesting...
“Also, the fall guy for losing Kherson.”
Surovikin got the job by presenting the plan of abandoning the hard to defend Kherson and reallocating those troops to gain superiority on the other fronts.
Part 1 of that plan worked. But those withdrawn troops managed to do nothing but die in trenches around Bakhmut.
Looks like they have bald headed men after they age a bit.
Be interesting to see some of the baldies from back in the
early years. Say 1492 when Columbus sailed the ocean blue.
Do all races of males loose their hair?
Wow! Five months to take a city of 10K, depopulated from August, when Russia pushed the people out and took half the city. Now, Jan 11th, they’ve taken the other half.
Hail victory! Salt for everyone!
Notice the blue uniform. That’s because Surovikin is a Russian Air Force general.
I’m retired US Air Force, and I feel he let us airman down.
Sad day.
Shouldn’t you be working on the Sunday morning political snoozefest? That’s riveting stuff!
Russians always change horses when they are winning the war like the Putiniskas say here on Free Republic.
Stupid war. Stupid prizes.
Somebody call Trump and see if he can end it.
all is not well in Whoville...
How depressing it must be to be a pro-Russia poster:
* Feb - All of Ukraine will fall in days
* Mar - Kiev is encircled and will fall soon
* Apr - Donetsk is a cauldron where Ukraine Army will be destroyed
* Aug - Kherson will be Russian forever
* Jan - Salt mine!
Foreigner, Soledar has fallen, please focus on the pending collapse of Bakhmut.
Maybe.
But I’m not a cheerleader for a third rate so-called world power who can’t even take over a town.
I had always respected and feared the Soviet then after 1991 Russian military. I really thought they were ten feet tall.
The whole world had them as the second greatest military power after the USA for decades, so I certainly wasn’t alone. They were the bear no one should poke. We feared them.
Up until about March of 2022. Since then, they’ve been an abject failure. Totally corrupt and incompetent.
I’m not in favor of Ukraine. They’re wannabees and grifters getting rich off of gullible Westerners. But come on, man, all you Russian supporters, you’ve got to admit, if you’re not lying or stupid, that Russia really f’d up this war.
I’m upset for the Russian grunts on the ground. They’re treated horribly, underequipped, under led and under fire, and any REAL Russia lovers should be furious about that. Their officers have no strategic or even tactical sense except to send them into direct fire. ENOUGH! Stop.
I view this whole operation/war as any professional military man would, with an objective eye on what is happening, not press releases and propaganda. Russia’s military is in horrible shape due to graft and corruption and needs a complete reform.
I actually hope they get it.
By coddling them you supporters are just making that day of reform further down the road and victory impossible.
Gerasimov was a military chief of staff.
Top military commander of all Russia.
So I guess he was demoted too?!
Nope. It is called the status of the operation upgraded.
“Do all races of males loose their hair?”
I presume you mean “lose their hair”
Yes - the human condition is that older people lose their hair. But this varies: by sex (men faster than women) and by genetics.
“Caucasians” i.e. people from Tamil Nadu to Ireland get bald earlier and more thoroughly than sub-Saharan Africans or East Asians.
Strangely enough, the Khoi-San (a different race) lose hair the least, though they don’t start off with much in the first place.
