NJ woman sentenced to 3 years for role in $400K GoFundMe scam

A New Jersey woman was sentenced to three years in state prison on Friday for her role in a $400,000 GoFundMe scam in which she and her then-boyfriend lied about helping a homeless veteran in Philadelphia.

Katelyn McClure, 32, was not present at her sentencing in Burlington County as she is already serving her one-year federal term in the case in a Connecticut prison, according to the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office.

This seems a little inconsistent as Martha Stewart got 5 months in a half way house for pocketing $45k in a stock selling scam and this woman got 3 years for her split of $400K, thus $200K, in a computer scam to be spent in both a federal and state prison. One gets to be the happy homemaker and the other one goes to the trash heap of life. Guess Martha knew someone.

Agree. BUT…

When are the other scammers aka politicians going to get their just deserts? Great Example is Liz Cheney. She entered congress worth million in 2017 and is now worth about 44 million. So that’s about a 6 million dollar increase per year and she makes about 250,000 a year. There is something magical about assuming public office that gives them genius level investment knowledge.
