I don’t know the particulars of what the holdouts demanded of McCarthy. I do know that I don’t trust McCarthy and looking at the list of the holdouts I trust them a whole lot more. I’ve seen a list of some of the concessions agreed to by McCarthy but as usual they’re just promises which are rarely kept in Washington. Whatever they got, it has to be an improvement over just rubber stamping him into the office of speaker. Gaetz is my representative and I’m happy with what he did, somebody has to stand up to these RINOs or they’ll let the democrats take the country down while happily sitting right beside them collecting their kickbacks.

As far as I'm concerned, there should be a whole closet full of canes available for Congressional sessions. Maybe some cricket bats. The pay-per-view could help pay off the national debt that these idiots have ballooned.

What you described nicely there seems to me to just be politics. I don’t get the excitement over it.

It was a brilliant play by Gaetz, to set himself up to be the last and deciding vote, AFTER McCarthy had already told the press he had the votes to win the 14th.

So the whole weekend news cycle was going to be a rerun of how Gaetz had outsmarted McCarthy, and everyone trying to ask McCarthy what went wrong.

There's no telling what Gaetz was able to extract from McCarthy to save him the embarrassment of not winning on Friday night, that he had already claimed was a done deal.

This is the way things are supposed to work. Tensions rise, people get mad, passions are high. Nowhere does it say that everyone must be polite.

I would take it a step further and say that it the duty of every reasonable person in Congress, of which we have very few, to oppose any and all malfeasance that is being attempted, as passionately as necessary. I wouldn't mind seeing more fistfights in Congress.

Mike Rogers didn’t lunge at anyone. They take one photo and try to make it out as some fight on the floor. A look at the video reveals that it is wasn’t much of a fight.

Yes, it was quite the strategic battle, even though the end result was the expected one. Whatever the “deal” was, it must have been a trigger already set to pull since it happened in seconds once McCarthy read the tea leaves.

Good point. Hopefully it will leak out, or be mentioned by Gaetz or someone, so we can help hold McCarthy’s feet to the fire. That particular one is one I’m sure he’s already plotting to get out of somehow. Not just because it was obviously important, but to help him discard the memory!

100% agree. Politeness has gotten us into the mess we're in today. It's time to use every tool at our disposal and this is a damn good one.
