Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin has shown signs of improvement but still remains hospitalized in critical condition, according to Hamlin's marketing representative and family spokesperson Jordon Rooney.

The main image shows Damar Hamlin of the Buffalo Bills after a game against the Tennessee Titans at Highmark Stadium on September 19, 2022 in Orchard Park, New York. The smaller pictures shows a memorial set up for Hamlin at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center on January 03, 2023 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Sources close to Hamlin have said the player is improving after suffering cardiac arrest during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night.

Rooney gave the update on the NFL player's condition to ESPN on Wednesday and noted Hamlin remains sedated. His update comes after Rob Butler, Hamlin's agent, told ESPN on Tuesday night that Hamlin's oxygen levels had improved.

Hamlin, 24, is in the intensive care unit at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he was transported after he went into cardiac arrest on the field during the first quarter of the Bills' Monday night game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The safety collapsed following his tackle of Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins, and CPR was administered to Hamlin before an ambulance arrived.

Since he’s in ICU they can’t do a brain scan in a MRI..............

Is there a reason they cannot do an EEG in intensive care? They're commonly used to determine brain death.

Once Damar Hamlin's off oxygen, they can also check the gag reflex to determine brain health/death.

EEG they could do, just need the room for the sensors in addition to the ones they already are using for heart rate, BP, respiration, oxygen levels, and whatnot................

I am praying night and day for Damar’s full recovery, however long it takes. But…God’s will be done. I hope the Lord sees fit to have this young man fully recover, not necessarily to playing football again, but to be the wonderful member of society that he seems to have been so far.

ICU patients, even those who are intubated and on ventilators, can be and are transported to MRI scanners every day

I was a critical care nurse for 6 years and have been a nurse anesthetist for almost 20. Your allegations are false

Say what?

I've taken maybe hundreds of people to get CT's and MRI's while they are intubated/or trached.

You weren’t just telling me your experience. You were making a statement and presenting it as fact when it is not accurate nor correct.

It must be very difficult, or you have plenty of room. Our MRI at our hospital is in another building and the room itself is very small. Just room enough for a patient to be loaded on the platform.

I worked for Pfizer when they made Cat Scan machines back in the early 80’s before they sold the business to an Israeli company.

One of my jobs was working on the moveable platform and the gantry that the X-Ray tube moves back and forth on..................

I wonder what his brain function looks like. That is the big concern.

Me too!

Considering there is a fully equipped ambulance with an EMS team plus team physicians and other medical personnel on both teams, why did they administer 9 minutes of CPR before attempting to use a defibrillator?

And I'm not just talking about the NFL! These requirements are in place for high school games.

“The MRI is located in another building. They would have to have moved bed and all that stuff simultaneously.”

They moved the bed and equipment simultaneously for my wife from ER and another time from the ICU when she was sedated on a ventilator machine. Not a fun experience.
