Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin has shown signs of improvement but still remains hospitalized in critical condition, according to Hamlin's marketing representative and family spokesperson Jordon Rooney.

Rooney gave the update on the NFL player's condition to ESPN on Wednesday and noted Hamlin remains sedated. His update comes after Rob Butler, Hamlin's agent, told ESPN on Tuesday night that Hamlin's oxygen levels had improved.

Hamlin, 24, is in the intensive care unit at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he was transported after he went into cardiac arrest on the field during the first quarter of the Bills' Monday night game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The safety collapsed following his tackle of Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins, and CPR was administered to Hamlin before an ambulance arrived.

They will get him off the vent. The lungs are the easy part. the big issue was his neurologic status

Drs Can’t say if commotio cortis (sp) happened, he’ll have to get better before they can diagnose what caused this

It will be difficult to determine exactly what caused it unless there is something obvious like coronary artery disease (doubtful). The will have an electrophysiologist look at him closely for any preexisting condiction abnormalities. The big decision will be does he need an implantable defibrillator

the only reason to trach on field would be an airway obstruction they could not ventilate beyond and would be exceedingly rare. the gold standard is intubation

I personally think the credit goes to God. Beyond that yes good quality CPR administered immediately saved both his life and his brain

Proning a ventilated patient is not for the squeamish. There are special foam cut outs used to maintain the tubing and great care must be taken to maintain the tube placement. The foam is trimmed in a fashion to hold the ET tube and not permit it to be crimped. Crimping would manifest as high pressures and confuse the ventilator, resulting in improper volumes and diminished ventilatory status.

In my particular hospital, proning became very popular with the Physicians for intubated Covid + Patients. Typically the procedure requires 6-8 people and experience. Nobody likes doing it. It is difficult and potentially life threatening to the Patient. Usually they will prone for 6-8 hours at a time if the Patient tolerates it well.

I agree.

Dr says Damar is home, the lights are on!

Says once off ventilator they will examine speech and motor movements to determine if complete recovery is possible.

No other injuries, cannot say if he suffered concussion when head hit field because with being sedated and intubated they could not do concussion tests.

Breathing tube out and neurological test will determine when he’s moved to “stable from Critical”

I think the issue we’re seeing is that the powers that be NEVER consider it might be due to the vax.
