Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin has shown signs of improvement but still remains hospitalized in critical condition, according to Hamlin's marketing representative and family spokesperson Jordon Rooney.

Rooney gave the update on the NFL player's condition to ESPN on Wednesday and noted Hamlin remains sedated. His update comes after Rob Butler, Hamlin's agent, told ESPN on Tuesday night that Hamlin's oxygen levels had improved.
Hamlin, 24, is in the intensive care unit at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he was transported after he went into cardiac arrest on the field during the first quarter of the Bills' Monday night game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
The safety collapsed following his tackle of Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins, and CPR was administered to Hamlin before an ambulance arrived.

When I was building CAT Scans, they were huge beasts and the ‘computer’ (PDP-11, IIRC) took up a whole rack. Nowadays the cellphone in your hand has more computing power than it did.
The power supply took up another rack full of equipment all by itself...............

Also, the ‘hard drive’ was like the size of a microwave oven and the disk was the size of a 12 inch LP Record.
Once a scan was made you had to wait for a while for the computer to ‘develop’ a picture.............
No comment on whether he’s brain damaged at this point. They’ve had plenty of time to suss that out by now.
By the way they are handling this, more than just the NFL is worried about this.

When I was in the hospital back in 2020, they used to wake me up every morning at 4 AM to do an X-Ray of my chest area.
The X-Ray machine was portable and the picture was instantaneous.
They would put a sensor pad behind my back about the size of a large kitchen cutting board and click it was done and immediately the ‘x-ray’ was displayed on the TV screen.
Then the ‘Vampires’ would come and take blood after that.............
Yes, nobody wants to discuss that aspect of it at all...............

What the heck did they do? Beat his chest too hard?..............
Not uncommon to break ribs during CPR (especially on older people), and perhaps puncture a lung. He could have also bruised lungs from the hit. Yesterday the Uncle said he had blood in his lungs and has been placed on his stomach to relieve pressure on the lungs.

I have never heard of that technique before this............
A punctured lung and broken rib or 2 are a somewhat minor problem compared to death or brain death. As they sometimes say, the cure seems worse than the disease. When someone is dead/dying CPR can be extremely aggressive to get the blood flowing again.
The medics were probably in a panic...............
It’s called the “prone position” and lots of people with pneumonia or Covid are advised to lie in the prone position to help ease pressure on the lungs and to help expel mucus.
