“250+25=25025”
You forgot to carry the 4. But that’s OK. It qualifies you to count votes in Maricopa County.

Social media and math hates Canada, is Nazi, mean-spirited, racist and anti-choice.

Play card games with your kid and have them keep score.
They will quickly pick up the concept of doing sums in their heads.

Because "feelings" don't enter into arithmetic, geometry, trig, and calculus.
But, apparently, since COVID, "feelings" DO enter into science! So there is still hope for the fairer sex in that one field!

I think we should be judged by how much effort we put into finding an answer. Plus, I mean how many times in REAL LIFE have you ever had to divide 550 by 2??? Duh!

Well, this explains why the government is taking 3-5 years to return to the moon!
Hell, couldn’t they just take the old crap out of mothballs and fire the dang thing up?!?
If I was an astronaut, I think I would be apt to rely on the tin-can technology of actual engineers of the late 60s than a single thing the younger generations design!! Mothballs and all!

That’s certainly true. And they will double-check the math to make sure it is correct! Plus, they will know exactly how many more points they need to win. Keeping score is a great way to teach children math because they will learn the add those numbers in their head very quickly.

Exactly my point. Therefore I love mathematics, but am also terrible at it. It’s a lifelong learning challenge that I enjoy. My favorite physics topic is nuclear physics mathematics starting with the - well - all the “on the shoulders of giants” discoveries from the beginning of time to the realization of the atom and elements. Now I am interested in whether we can can actually get to a technological point where we can “break physics” somehow.

Well if we were born with 6 fingers instead of 10, 550/2 is 253.

Our youngest has trouble with numbers so I started playing a game of dominoes with her daily and have her keep score. It is a little, "just us" time where she does not have to compete with her older siblings.
She is now starting to do the sums in her head.
Her dad is starting to teach her basic geometry by having her help him with his woodworking.
