If every football player collapsed from a hit like that then there would not be any players left. Obviously this guy was a ticking time bomb before he was hit.

If he’s been intubated, how bad is that? Not a doctor but I seem to recall it’s a very bad sign.
Unexpected for a well-conditioned athlete. But he could have had an undetected heart issue that was aggravated by the stress and violence on the field.
Hopefully, the immediate care he received will help him survive. Sad.

Most of the time racers hit the wall at an angle. Dale hit it head on. The impact didn’t look bad and the car took the hit fine, but his neck snapped when his head went forward. There was talk about requiring a line from the back of the helmet to a fixed point in the car but I think they decided the downside was greater than the upside.

It’s hard to tell. He may have been I tj aged for airway protection based on a neck injury though I think this is unlikely. Intubation is part of ACLS

I know. There are those on this forum who salivate over death so they can advance an agenda. The first thought I had when I saw the replay was R on T. Direct shot to sternum. Apparent cardiac collapse. Looks for all the world like VF arrest with an immediate antecedent sternal hit.

I would think intubation would be a normal procedure to keep him breathing until they are able to see what they are facing. Sounds like they may have been able to get a heart beat. Praying.
