She was surrounded by family when she passed away on Saturday, her publicist said.
Anita Pointer, a member of the Grammy-winning R&B group The Pointer Sisters, passed away from cancer at the age of 74, according to her publicist.
She was surrounded by family when she passed away on Saturday, her publicist Roger Neal said, Fox News reported.
"While we are deeply saddened by the loss of Anita, we are comforted in knowing she is now with her daughter Jada and her sisters June & Bonnie and at peace. She was the one that kept all of us close and together for so long," her family said in a statement.
She was a founding member of The Pointer Sisters, which won Grammys for the songs "Fairytale," "Automatic" and "Jump (For My Love)." With Anita Pointer's death, Ruth Pointer remains the last surviving founding member of the group.
Anita Pointer is also survived by her two brothers, Fritz and Aaron.
So it sounds like Fritz and Aaron have some transgendering to do so they can keep the band together.
Too soon?
I sold stereo equipment in the later 70’s and several of their songs were favorites for demonstrations. Wonderful voices.
When my kids were small, they’d start (trying to dance) when the Pointer Sisters’ songs came on.
I liked the song “Automatic” when it was on the charts in about 1983, lol.
Oh yes, an integral part of the opening scenes (cigarette truck chase) of Beverly Hills Cop.
I guess so. I always thought there were three of them, but apparently, sometimes there were four.
They had good pop songs that anyone could enjoy, as was the case with much of the pop music of that era. It seems almost quaint nowadays.
It had a good beat, and you could dance to it!......................
I give it a 62, Dick.
😜👍😁......................
I saw them with the Boston Pops one July 4th Esplanade Concert many years ago.
Terrific Voices.
