Council workers in a Ukrainian port city have torn down a monument to Russian empress Catherine the Great after a public vote to get rid of it.
The statue of Catherine II, also known as Catherine the Great, was erected in 1900 in Odessa to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the city's founding.
The local authority organized an online vote on the fate of the monument.

No, that came from/about the Irish. But the term "slave" came, directly and literally, from the "slavs". Ukes, Poles... the turks traded them like goats.
For over three centuries, the military of the Crimean Khanate and the Nogai Horde conducted slave raids primarily in lands controlled by Russia[a] and Poland-Lithuania as well as other territories, often under the sponsorship of the Ottoman Empire.
Estimates of the number of people affected vary: Polish historian Bohdan Baranowski assumed that the 17th century Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth (present-day Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Ukraine, and Belarus) lost an average of 20,000 yearly and as many as one million in total from 1474 to 1694
So that is where the phrase "white trash" comes from!
Correct. In land that the ukes insist be called Ukraine now. See what I mean? It's all a giant trash heap of garbage people. russians, ukes and muzzies.
But you guys just keep killing each other/yourselves. Just don’t come begging for our money to do it.
Told ya...Zelensky wants to cleanse Ukraine of everything Russian..despite the fact that most Ukrainians are of Russian Heritage.
A better example than the Taliban is Black America.
Destruction of statues of Southern greats is Kissing Black Ass by the Democrats.
However, if we expound your thought, Black America is Taliban like
She was great. Catherine was also German, not Russian
“Most Ukrainians are of Russian Heritage.”
Very few Ukrainians are descended from Muscovites. Ukraine existed as part of the western world for 2000 years before Russia did.
After 300 years of occupation many Ukrainians speak Russian, but those are not their roots.
We should help the Romanians take back their part of the Ukraine.
They are undergoing a cultural revolution now, not unlike China under Mao, Pol Pot or Ayatollah Khomenei
It shouldn’t be a surprise. They are under great stress of war, have one-party rule by Azov radicals, are being fed and supported by outside money, weapons and a foreign-imposed ideology.
Or Lithuainians and Poles.
Funny how history reads, Russia repressed them, everyone else ruled them
So does this mean we, the US, are still a colony of Great Britain?
Land, much like freedom is only yours if you are more willing to defend it than the others willing to take.
One of the most popular Turkish Soap Operas of the last decade is called “The Magnificent Century” about the the life of Ottoman Emporer Suleiman I and his favorite concubine Hurrum Sultan in the 16th century, a Christian Orthodox woman captured in Crimea, who converted to Islam.
Suleiman represented the peak of Ottoman power, captured Belgrade, much of Greece, and conducted the first siege of Vienna

Its ironic that in attempting to de-Russify, this is the history the Azov Red Guards will be de-facto supporting.
It’s true. What Ukraine has been up to since 2014 is called ETHNIC CLEANSING, or, I don’t know, GENOCIDE?
I demand reparations from Cro-Magnons for the evils committed against my Neandertal ancestors.

My hometown is heavily populated with Ukrainians in one area. They intermarried mostly with Russians. Street fights were between the Polish and Ukrainians.
Probably won’t be long at all before Russia puts an even bigger one of Katerina in its’ place.
You're right, we should return all countries to the size they were 500 years ago
Russia
