Sad, I wonder what job she had that required here to risk coming into work that day. Some will criticize her decision to drive that day, but certain jobs insist you come in no matter the weather. My sister is a nurse and is expected to show up and continue working, even sleeping at her work place if necessary.
I have friends in Buffalo and one was telling me the other day that several cars were stuck in front of his house and he invited them in to warm up and stay with him until they could make other arrangements, but none of them took him up on his offer. He was saddened that these days many just don’t seem to have that “help thy neighbor” feeling anymore.
Even in the South (I’m an native Tennessean) one was told to have an emergency kit as others have posted.
It gets cold enough here to kill, however infrequent.
However, millennials believe every solution is on their iPhones... Until reality shows up.
The family shows where she got her survival skills.
There is a van maybe 20 feet from her in a video. 4 ways and parking lights on. My guess is it was running and occupied.
Should have been done before the storm and cancelling non essential businesses.
She had the typical”live for today “attitude.
Well, there’s no more tomorrows for her.
Amazing isn’t it? Couldn’t do even simple things that could have helped her survive relatively easily.
I don’t blame her though. This is by design. These generations are being raised this way intentionally through our government indoctrination centers. Intended to be helpless, with a mindset that the government is the parent and will come to your rescue, as long as you vote for Democrats.
Which is ridiculous, with all the money rolling around they should have had a fleet of snowmobiles, snow cats, trailer-able mini med centers etc.
Whenever I go somewhere any time of the year I carry a good sleeping bag and blankets...
Dropped like 68 degrees up here in about 8 hours to ZERO and very little snow but the wind chill was like minus 40 degrees .
I stayed home with my woodstove and about 12 cords of hickory stored and enough used. Crock pots full of stew, chili, pinto beans etc ...... A good internet wifi mesh network connection and my 5 vehicles filled with fuel if the power companies got it wrong again this year in texas .......
We watch the farm weather ...... same forecast’s the ranchers / farmers follow.
Not these weather bunnies .
The news told me biden won and it was gonna be warm ..... so I prepared for the worse.
Sorry this lady was a victim ........ stay HOME !!!
“I did the same back in the “world” upon getting discharged. A survival pack in my cars. Same for the wife.”
I also keep a miniature shortwave/am/fm/ssb radio and solar charger, primus stove, water, thermal blankets, axe, etc., etc.
That and the breaking up of families and relatively easy lifestyles have made us soft and blind to the realities of life.
One question I have, how far away was she from the nearest occupied building, whether residential or commerce? She just sat there til the elements took their course? Probably didn’t have a heavy coat nor boots for traveling through the snow.
More evidence of not planning for the worst.
Well, she’ll be voting Democrat for eternity now
She drives to work knowing a blizzard is coming?
A very bad decision.
I would add a cheap collapsible snow shovel ($15 at Walmart) and a 5/10 lb bag of kitty litter for traction.
All I could see
Was truck tire tracks
This may have been her first winter there. N.C. has winters too, depending on where she was from, she may have never seen a foot of snow let alone 5!. Her friends suck, they didnt help her get ready for the blizzard, someone let her leave work. then again she may have went nuts if they told her she cant leave. Ive seen it first hand. some folks dont like to be told to sit down and stay for the night. nope. they get very ugly. fufufufu Im leaving!!!!!
If you read the story, your questions would have been answered
That wasn’t in the story. They tried to respond but couldn’t
You can also use a car mat in a folded half loop as a snow scoop for snow that has just fallen.
Clear the front/rear and driver side door every 30 minutes. Run the car 10 minutes with full heat, then off 20 minutes. Scoop away the snow right before the running the car cycles.
Even with a quarter of a tank, this would have given her many hours. The snow at the other doors (non-driver side) and on top could have served as insulation too.
