A few days back, Financial Times reported that the Dow Jones Media Titans index, which tracks the performance of 30 of the world’s largest media companies, had a 40 percent fall this year. This caused a decline from $1.35 trillion to $808 billion in total market value.
These losses were considerably higher than those in other sectors, such as banking, which saw a 14.5 percent drop, and telecommunications, which witnessed a fall of 11.2 percent for the same time frame.
Major studios, streamers, cable providers, and other media giants lost a combined $542 billion in market value in 2022.
Disney Inc., the home of Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, Mary Poppins, Aladdin, and Toy Story faltered quite badly. The stocks of this once invincible brand and iconic American company plummeted by more than 40 percent this year. The company faces weak profitability for the foreseeable future, prompting the firing of CEO Bob Chapek and the return of former CEO Bob Iger.
Netflix experienced an unprecedented two consecutive quarters of subscriber losses this year, which resulted in layoffs and cost-cutting across the board. For the year, the stock is down more than 50 percent.
Other big losers include Paramount Global, whose stock has dropped more than 40 percent, and Warner Bros. Discovery — the parent company of CNN — whose stock has tumbled more than 60 percent.
Comcast — the parent of NBC and MSNBC, as well as Universal — is down more than 30 percent for the year.
There are myriad reasons for these losses.

So there is a silver lining in this otherwise black cloud of despair that the rinos and communists brought on.
Like they say, go woke, go broke.
Maybe the dogs don’t like the dog food.
I don’t see Aquaman 2 being released anytime soon. It’s been shot already (2 times now). They had to get the Amber Heard taste out of their mouths on that one. They stuck with AH and ditched JD but after the trial they now have egg all over their face. Over 4 million signed a petition NOT to watch AQ2 if she was in it. The CEO said he didn’t care what the fans wanted. Eventually he was fired and Bob Iger had to re-take over as CEO. The movie is so tainted now, they are thinking of trashing the whole film(s).
No worries, the taxpayers will continue to subsidize
We wish :). Unfortunately, their insanity is paid for by taxpaying city sense in responsible states.
There are rolling blackout in Tennessee for goodness sakes.
I’ve heard good things about both Tom Cruise and Tom Hanks.
Tom Hanks made a movie in our city and the people who met him said he was friendly to everybody.
Other than these two, Clint Eastwood, and Eddie Murphy you can have the rest.
BTW Eddie Murphy was canceled because of his views on LGBTQIAUSSR+.
The feel good post of the day.
Netflix LGBTQ Movies

They all thought they could launch their own streaming platforms, which only cannibalized the existing top dog Netflix. And none of the new ones were able to attract interest. You can now burn more money paying for these streaming services than you do for premium TV.
This is good news indeed.
I’m in for Dune 2.
I would have been there for Glass Onion (the followup to Knives Out) but they didn’t tell anyone it was out—for one week only! It can be streamed from Netflix but I’m not getting that.
The producers in Hollywood are failed losers in a tiny minority group in a major Christian country. No one likes rude guests.
No romcoms? All action?
I think they already knew this lesson. They took over Hollywood and made a propaganda outlet out of it to get to the goal of having a totalitarian state in which they **don’t have** to earn anything!
They will own everything, while majority will own nothing (and supposedly be happy).
Ok, so lose another 500 billion next year Hollywood. Come on, YOU GOT THIS!
Give it to them good and hard. Indie and foreign movies are better.
and they will continue to lose billions as long as they keep pushing this faggot crap
Time for some major stockholder suits against crappy management.
There is something wrong with movies made today. Some have no decernable story line and almost no plot. They’re visual artistically but do not challenge the viewer any way to follow along. It’s weird.
