Daisy Ridley is firmly cemented in the Star Wars universe thanks to her role as Rey, but the actress struggled to secure roles after appearing in the space opera movies.
The 30-year-old star appeared in the most recent Star Wars trilogy, starting with The Force Awakens in 2015.
After becoming one of the new faces of the multi-billion-dollar Disney-owned blockbuster franchise, one would think Ridley would have endless job offers, but she has revealed that wasn’t the case.
Following the release of the final film in the new trilogy, The Rise the Skywalker in December 2019, Ridley struggled jobs-wise in the following months before the Covid-19 pandemic took hold.
"Weirdly, at the beginning of the year nothing was coming through," she explained to Entertainment Weekly, describing the months after The Rise of the Skywalker’s release. "I was like, 'Aww! No one wants to employ me.'"
She added that 'there were actually loads of things that I auditioned for at the beginning of the year and didn’t get any of them'.
"I had that moment of 'Oh my god!' and then just thought 'everything in it’s right time,'" she said.

Same was with dipwad Mark Hamill. He essentially disappeared after Star Wars and didn’t surface again until he started ranting about Trump on Twitter.
None of the actors in the Star Wars films were worth a damn outside of Sir Alec. It was actually the main underlying thread of the entire series.
1. Hamil actually did some really good animated voice work, especially as the Joker.
2. I think you are forgetting about Harrison Ford and Peter Cushing. James Earl Jones also did the voice for Darth Vadar, which was pretty incredible.
Oh so that’s what they call it now.
“There is no reason she should not be working”
It sounds as though the people in charge of Hollywood disagree with you.
There could be issues behind the scenes we don’t know about. (unless you are one of said people)
I went to the first one on a date. Went back a couple days later with buddies, and picked it apart all tbe way through. They kept saying shut up. I just laughed and said, “you’re watching “once upon a time in the west, with spaceships and lightsabers instead of trains and guns”
Watched the sequel and am embarrassed to admit that.
Completely agree with this and the rest of your assessment. I think she'll likely end up doing just fine in a few years.
“ There’s always prostitution.”

She’s not Ukrainian. /Just kidding!
I think that movie was actually filmed before star wars.
I enjoyed the two spin offs - "Solo" and "Rogue One."
Solo was the best. I have watched it all the way through about five times.
Rogue One is one full step down in plot and script, but the acting and the actors are mostly good, and the special effects for Death Star planet destruction are very good.
The first Star Wars film with Daisy Ridley is worth watching. Her second Star Wars film is poor. The third one is terrible.
Every. Single. Star wars actor has been given horrible dialog.
The only one to really make it was Harrison Ford, who was the best actor in the original 3, hands down.
Star wars is a career killer.
He had the personality. You should see that in an actor. Some sort of presence. Many of them do not have that. It shouldn't look like a high school play.
I thought Rogue One was well done. The only recent movie that I liked. Solo was not bad. All others sucked. Just my two cents.
Mark Hamill was in Samuel Fuller’s war epic The Big Red One with Lee Marvin.
I like the classic Peter Rabbit better too.
Never heard of her...
Of course, at my advanced age, I might have slept with her and have just forgotten her...
Odd thing, though, I can remember all the actresses who acted with Buster Crab, William Powell, and John Wayne during the 1930s...
The last movie I went to was The Godfather in 1972...
I honestly couldn’t pick her out of a line-up of actresses who were in “Star Wars anything.” AFAIC, an un-memorable character.
She should do a sitcom where she’s married to Jake Lloyd. He’s the right age now, and out of jail. Call it “Joining Forces” or something.
Meghan Markle could have a recurring role as the annoying neighbor.
Why is it that Hollywood is continuing to mess up with their casting? GOT hit a home run with their actors, all of them were terrific, especially the Lannisters.
it was released the year after Star Wars.
