“As a former Marine, it was always yes or no drill instructor. Ma’am or Sir was only for addressing an officer,” one person wrote, with others saying only recruits would ever use the terms.
What does a real marine say to the matter?
“Yes, Drill Sergeant.”
Many times, we wonder at how a military -- who are born of, raised, and made friends by their fellow peoples -- can perpetrate atrocities on their own kind.
What's going on right now within the ranks is exactly how that estrangement is facilitated.
That's how it happens...
Ping!
“But the same confusion applies to the Army, except that both the men and the women look like women.”
So your saying you get turned on by anyone in the Army? That’s sick.
This would be miserable to a recruit. I can just imagine me standing at attention reporting to “Aye Aye, Master Chief Petty Officer Ramirez” at Cape May rather than the simple “Sir, Aye Aye, Sir”
And seeing how this decision is made by a bunch of fat trannies at a college, have ANYONE there, bothered to ask DIs or DDIs about how they feel? I rememebr getting screamed at in by half a dozen “it’s “sir, aye aye sir”” or “ma’am, aye aye, ma’am” Are DI’s now going to have to run around correcting recruits for not memorizing the name and rank of the dozens and dozens of DIs and other people they are going to be dealing with at boot camp?
How pathetic.
The Navy has always used rank, including in boot camp. Calling an enlisted leader “Sir” would bring a quick rebuke such as “Sir?! I work for a living you sh!tbird!”, or “Don’t call me sir you numbnuts! I ain’t your %@#& %!*+# daddy!”
I wonder if the Russian and Chinese soldiers have the preferred pronouns on their uniform. That is reason enough for a good war.
LOL. I actually get called “sir” a lot. I’m not that masculine-appearing so it must be my commanding, confident demeanor. :D
We want killers, not gender benders. Where’s your war face?
Nah - they're all ugly regardless of gender anyway.
“Misgendering” is a made-up problem. It isn’t a problem. Trying to make it a problem just makes people look silly.
I remember being scolded in the army for addressing a sergeant as “Sergeant” + name. That was a privilege reserved for officers. The correct term for enlisted men was “Sarge” sans name.
In my military family we all grew up calling women “Ma’am”, and all men “Sir”. (What we called our peers was another thing)
That’s it. It is respectful.
And I am not going to stop doing it to accommodate trendy crap. And definitely not for any kind of “preferred pronoun”. Period. Full Stop.
Not doing it.
Yep. And many of the replacements were queers.
This country is in big trouble. The adults at some point have to take over. This is insane.
........
Agree.
Marines like ugly. Seen too many on cattle calls or “Hogging” on a Friday or Saturday night.
The loonies are in charge.
How about:
Yes Penis
No penis
Yes vagina
No Vagina
No confusion there.
