Black ice and freezing rain caused disruption in parts of Germany on Monday as a lengthy freeze gave way to milder and wetter weather, with trains traveling at reduced speed, cancellations at the country’s busiest airport and a spate of traffic accidents.

The German Weather Service warned of widespread black ice across the country, except in the south and west.

National railway operator Deutsche Bahn said that it had reduced its trains’ maximum speed because of freezing rain and ice. …

Too bad. The Autobahn has no speed limit so Germans may have to slow down to 70 mph.

Anyone going to thank Angela Merkle for shutting down their nuclear power plants?

With an over 80% chance of rain for all 5 days with no sun to power the watermelon Marxists’ solar panels. Wind is also low so not much energy from bird eggbeaters either. Light up that natural gas for electricity. Tick tock to empty.

Here in MO; Thurs high of 35 dropping to 11 by 5pm, rain turning to snow which means ice with snow on top. Fri morning -7 with 40 mph gusts for -28 wind chill. Gonna put the battery charge on my truck and hope it will start so I can make it to work. Good time for an engine block heater even though it’s not a diesel.

This is all according to NWS and they do tend to exaggerate just to get people to pay attention I guess. Still, -40 wind chill, -30 wind chill, whatever. Danger.

If you don’t have an engine block heater use a shop drop light with an incandescent bulb. Placed close to the oil pan it will heat the engine oil and block and it will start easy. Be careful where you place it as the heat can melt plastic if too close.

Wouldn't want the politicians shivering, would we? I'm pretty sure the heating won't be affected in Washington, D. C. either (at least not while Congress is in session). Used to be a coal-powered plant over on the Anacostia River River in SE Washington. I don't know what's there now.
