A wonderful look at some special moments Bob spent with the troops during his many Christmas performances.

They don’t make patriotic entertainers like Bob Hope anymore........if there are any....they are rare.
Bing Crosby may have never had his pony show up, but he got most all all of Hope’s Christmas song hits.
Saw his show in 1965 Tan Son Nhut Airbase Viet Nam.
Bob Hope in 1975: “I’ve just flown in from California, where they’ve made homosexuality legal. I thought I’d get out before they make it compulsory.”
My Marine buddy protected Hope...via helicopter. He said they could see the stage and Hope.
I was able to attend the Rose Parade in 2000 b/c my niece was marching with her high school band.
Bob Hope was to be the Grand Marshal that year.
As the parade was starting (we were at the beginning) - it was announced that Hope could not be there - have no idea what his age was at that time, some reports were that he was over 100 years old.
Instead, a truck with a loudspeaker on top blasting Hope’s voice telling jokes was the “Grand Marshal” that year.
50 Years ago today. Camp Casey, Korea.
I saw his show Christmas, 1971 at Bien Hoa.
I love watching the Bob Hope Christmas tours. He did them before Nam and after. The best is 1967 tour with Raquel. She can’t sing, but has movable parts than a Swiss watch.
My dad was in the Pacific during WW2 when Hope came through on tour. Jerry Colonna who played second banana to Hope for many years was part of the tour, and they put on a good show. It was a welcome break from the war.
Marvelous, Thank you and Merry Christmas...
The day Bob Hope was having his Christmas show at Cu Chi in Vietnam, where my brother was stationed ‘66-’67, he had to guard the bridge they’d nicknamed “Ann Margaret.”
Later.
Thanks for sharing. Let me go blow my nose.
