“There should be a small cadre of specifically trained armed cops and all the rest should be unarmed “peace officers.”
While I miss the days when cops were peace officers, you’ve obviously never been to the west side of Chicago.
L
I saw his picture. Does not look like a gardened criminal, to say the least. Hope they release any body cams or info and get to the bottom of it.
You don’t get called to respond to a burglary, which could of course be a home invasion.
Maybe he was selling Bibles door-to-door, at 7:30 AM?
Yeah, let’s have unarmed peace officers respond to a burglary in progress.
“Best to leave me alone”
Statements like this typically invite misbehavior. Just saying.
Regards,
Good grief. That’s a terrible standard. What if he needed help. I hope this family sues enough to own the city. This particular shooting was outrageous to say the least.
At 7:30 am in Florida, you have tons of workers all over the place. But police at least here are not stupid.
Someone reported a burglary and called the police. Or did you miss that tidbit?
You have no idea. It could either be a horrible combination of circumstances, or the deceased, like many young adults, made a very poor decision.
“Statements like this typically invite misbehavior”
On who’s part?
Workers coming to my home text me before arriving. Anyone knocking on my door unanounced at 7:30 in the morning will be approached with caution, to say the least.
I thought the Libs in the
Urban Utopias have instituted Social Justice warriors ilo cops to respond to “situations”.
“Who called the cops?” Doesn’t matter.
‘Why was he there?” Doesn’t matter.
“Was he just walking by?” Doesn’t matter.
“Why did the cop shoot?” MATTERS !

No, all details matter.
You do not have to obey police ‘commands’ under penalty of death,
at least not until now.

Yale can’t/won’t fix New Haven.
What do you want me to do?
That’s certainly a child-like way of looking at things.
OK, conceivably, but only in so far as they inform the answer to question 4. which is the only one that matters.

Well I've always refrained from approaching properties that were not mine, and it's worked out pretty well.
