The family of a 21-year-old college student from Georgia is in mourning after he was killed by a Hancock County sheriff’s deputy in an officer-involved shooting over the weekend.
Isaiah Winkley, who was studying cyber security at Pensacola Christian College in Florida, died Saturday morning after Hancock deputies responded to a report of a burglary at 28030 Highway 603 in Kiln, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation said in a release.

This just stinks to high heaven.
I've got $10 that says this poor boy was blown away by a trigger happy deputy.
He deserves justice.
Not much information. “A subject died after shots were fired.” I’m very sad for his family and friends.
It says he was shot outside of the home. Is “the home”, “his home”?
Details are quite scant.
RIP.
He was shot without having done anything to justify getting shot, and he was outside of the house that he allegedly burglarized.
Don’t approach properties that are not yours.
Very sorry to hear this... Pensacola is a strict Christian college. This young man had his whole life ahead of him.

Or what? Executed for being near property? Idiot. If you or I just shot a person being near our property, murder charges. Cops should have no special rules.
Best to leave me alone.
“He was shot without having done anything to justify getting shot, and he was outside of the house that he allegedly burglarized.”
WTF? This makes no sense.
If that happened + he chose to ignore or not comply with police commands, then, unfortunately, this is often the outcome. The article tells us as little as possible.
I didn’t say he did anything. The story has almost no relevant details is all.
Who called the cops?
Why was he there?
Was he just walking by?
Why did the cop shoot?
It tells us a lot just knowing cities are not being engulfed in flames, the looters are not ransacking, there is little interest by the media, no beer summit has been called by the Biden crime cartel, and no word of the justice Brothers presence.
I’m inclined to agree with you. And the longer the local cops stall on details and dashcam/bodycam video the more likely it will be that they murdered someone.
Did a quick search... He sounds like a nice young man. There is too much information missing from the story. I hope his family gets answers.
“According to a release, 21-year-old Isaiah Winkley was shot and killed by a Hancock County deputy after they say he was found burglarizing a home on the 28000 block of Highway 603 in Kiln.”
The “Hancock County Sheriff’s (Office) was responding to a burglary call near 28030 Hwy. 603 in Kiln on Saturday … around 7:30 a.m.,” according to an MBI press release. “When on scene, shots were fired and the subject did receive fatal injuries. The officer received no injuries.”
“Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the individual who had apparently burglarized the residence,” according to a press release from Sheriff Ricky Adam. “After a confrontation, officers utilized lethal force, resulting in the death of an individual on scene. Involved officers received minor injuries during the encounter. In accordance with department policy, investigators from the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations are leading the investigation. The identity of involved individuals is deferred at this time.”
What a dumb statement
It lacks details because the cops are keeping that way and that tells me a lot
I’ve said this time and time again, but most police should be disarmed, most are too stupid and poorly trained to carry deadly weapons. There should be a small cadre of specifically trained armed cops and all the rest should be unarmed “peace officers”.
Words to live by, as it turns out.
YMMV.
