Stuart Margolin, best known for his Emmy Award-winning portrayal of Evelyn “Angel” Martin on The Rockford Files, has died. He was 82.
The actor’s passing was announced on social media earlier today by his stepson, actor Max Martini, who paid tribute to Margolin with an emotional Instagram post.

Best TV series ever. Bought the DVD set and watch an episode every Friday night, the same night it aired on NBC. If ever you’re in Malibu, stop at the Paradise Cove Beach Cafe - aka The Sand Castle - and eat there. Breakfast, lunch, dinner. The best sunnyside up eggs I’ve ever had.

I just saw some of his more recent work, a movie called The Second Time Around from 2016. Basically about two senior widowers finding live again. Worth a watch.

Exactly right.
He came across as very believable and entertainingly humorous without ever detracting from the story line (like the character Fonz eventually evolved into in Happy Days). ... Angel Martin ... the loser whose connections, the pay day, big break was just always around the corner, and he would even sell out his friends to get it. And his break never came, in some cases he was only lucky to remain alive.
