Putin disappointed by Merkel's words about Minsk agreements

Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, has been disappointed by the statement of German ex-Chancellor Angela Merkel, where she claimed that the Minsk agreements of 2014 enabled Ukraine to prepare for war with Russia.

For me, it was completely unexpected. It is disappointing. I did not expect to hear something like that from the ex-Chancellor. I always hoped that the German leadership was genuine.

Yes, she was on Ukraine’s side, supporting it. But nevertheless, I genuinely hoped that German leadership expected a settlement based on the principles achieved, among other things, during the Minsk negotiations."

"It appears to me that nobody planned to live up to these Minsk agreements… They [the participants – ed.] lied to us, and the only reason for these processes was to pump Ukraine up with weapons and get it ready for military action. Well, we can see that. Maybe we were too late to realise what was happening. Maybe this [the war – ed.] should have been started earlier."

The West lied, impossible…

Since the "West" was not a signer of the Minsk treaty, how exactly did the West lie? A good example of a country lying would be russia who signed Budapest Agreement agreeing “to respect the independence and sovereignty and the existing borders of Ukraine” and “to refrain from the threat or use of force” against the country.

I don’t care what you think or say.
You care more about Ukraine than America.
You and your foreign friends are trash.

Last year we spent the equivalent of 5% of our military budget on Ukraine, which resulted in the destruction of the russian army as an offensive threat to NATO, with zero loss of our servicemen. Good thing, or not?

Not a threat to NATO.

Not good long term. Blowback for flipping the SWIFT switch will last.
Greater economic strength for Asia moving forward long term.
The idea of Russia regaining the Soviet Union is comical.
The greatest threat to the world is globalism.

Interesting, sounds like something a Diplomat, Prime Minister or President would say.

Not a threat to NATO.

Not a threat? Putin was confronting NATO, demanding NATO withdraw from Eastern Europe.

Russia demands NATO roll back from East Europe and stay out of Ukraine

"The russian army as an offensive threat to NATO?" Give me a break - Putin's 'clown car' army couldn't even take Kiev. And since the US is running budget deficits, every penny of your "5% of our miltary budget" (now up to ~$100 billion) that we threw at Ukraine is borrowed money. If you're having paranoid dreams about Soviet tanks rolling through the Arc de Triomphe, with Brezhnev leading the way in a ZIL limo, you might consider the money well spent.

HELL YES, it was well spent. Putin was confronting NATO, demanding we withdraw from the Baltic's and Poland. Now, russian offensive capabilities are neutered and no threat to NATO.

As to Putin's 'clown car' army who knew the extent of the corruption before the invasion.
