Very tall man encroached on other passengers' space, wouldn't allow a reclined seat
Users on the Reddit social media site have come to the defense of an airline traveler who informed a tall passenger during some apparently tense moments on board that he should have purchased additional legroom to accommodate his size — rather than infringing on others around him.
A Redditor who goes by the user name "Itchy-Smell8152" recently asked others in the subreddit "Am I the A*****e" (AITA) for their opinions about how he handled a tricky travel situation.
In essence, he was not permitted to recline his seat on an airplane because the passenger behind him was too tall to accommodate it

(1) How do you buy extra legroom on a plane with stationary seats?
(2) I haven’t been on a plane in a long time with seats that recline more than 2”, if at all.
Being tall is not a choice. Being fat is.
Many times...the first row in economy, up at the bulkhead. Airlines usually charge extra for those seats. Plenty of room...very nice!
But you do have a choice as to which seats to request, most of the time. Most airplanes have a map of the plane laid out.
People who recline should be shot.
I’m short and don’t appreciate the loss of what little space the airline allots me during the flight.
The bigger issue is fat people who squish you out of your seat of which there are far more than extremely tall people.
That said, I would only fly any more in a life or death situation.
my bad on the math ... coffee pot had not finished yet ...
Choosing more appropriate seating works until the airline decides to change the ‘equipment’ (i.e., the model of the plane) and suddenly your chosen seat 16A isn’t on the exit row. That’s happened to me on multiple occasions.
Funny, though, how people are intolerant of ‘body shaming’... until it impacts their ‘personal space’.
Also funny how the world has to build handicap access into their businesses, but airlines aren’t required to construct a few rows for taller or wider patrons. In their case, of course, it’s all about cramming as many people into a small space as physically possible — comfort considerations notwithstanding.
You can blame the airlines for this predicament. They were the ones that approached the plane manufacturers to try and squeeze the seats in order to cram more passengers on a flight. I’m over 6’5” and if I can’t get a seat in the emergency exit row, I don’t go.
No reason to chew out the tall guy. Those seats don’t recline enough to metit the word.
👍
“People who recline should be shot.”
I recline without guilt or permission. It is not up to the person behind me to decide if I recline or not.
It is you who should face the firing squad for being a control freak.
You doubtlessly drive in the left lane at the exact speed limit, and wait in drive through windows until youve put your change/cards back into your purse with no regard for those behind you, and disdain for those in front of you!
When I book a flight, the online service has a picture of the aircraft, with all the available seats. I pick my seat. I paid for that seat. I will not trade my seat for a lesser seat bacause you failed to book early enough to sit with your family. Unless you have a better seat than mine to trade.
My seat comes with a little button, that allows it to recline.
I paid for that button and its function. I will use it. I will not accommodate someone who has failed to plan ahead and book a seat that accommodates them.
No, you cannot put your feet or any other body part on the armrest that I paid for. It will get thumped.
You cannot use any part of your body, up to and including your hair, to interfere with the full use of my seat. It will get pulled, dunked into my drink or filled with food.
I am sick and tired of being forced to accommodate the stupid and the inconsiderate.
“You vill never fly again. Und you vill be happy.”
The forward bulkhead seat has no seat in front of it and is luxurious for stretching out without paying for more space.
The exit row seat has about 6 inches more space than the rest of the cabin class seats.
In the best of all worlds, one of the boomer couches on a KC-135 was awesome.

Shrink perhaps?
Who cares Klaus Schwab and his WEF will ban air travel and he’ll have to walk
At least we now have a few more details on Brittany Griner's flight back to the states.
“Planes and airports are dehumanizing and plain awful.”
Some of us old-timers remember when they were luxurious and wonderful.
This is a symptom of western civilization in collapse.
My knees touch the seat in front of me when I’m on a plane. The person who reclines in front of me has to deal with being jarred whenever I need to adjust my leg position. They probably won’t be sleeping during the flight, if that’s their plan.
I would suggest a fat person can more likely find any two seats together than a tall person can nab one of the few extra-legroom seats, which are sought after even by people who aren’t all that tall.
