Reports from the river stations note several deaths from exposure during the past forty-eight hours.
HEADQUARTERS, Monday, Dec. 8.
Large quantities of supplies are prevented from landing at Aquia and Potomac Creeks by low water and ice. The latter is fully two inches thick. Notwithstanding this, the army generally is provisioned for twelve days ahead. Credit is due to the army Quartermasters and Commissaries for their energy in overcoming great obstacles and massing the supplies now on hand.
There have been no movements of importance today. Many regiments are industriously engaged in erecting huts, as if preparing to spend the Winter hereabouts. The impression, however, is prevalent that the present quiet will be of short duration.

Gen. Sumner's Corps on the Move Last Thursday.
ON THE MARCH, NEAR STAFFORD COURT-HOUSE, Thursday, Dec. 4, 1862.
Last evening, the order for striking tents and marching came, and at sunrise Gen. SUMNER'S command, consisting of--men, was on the move. Our destination is in a southerly course, which will undoubtedly be made known by the Government authorities ere this reaches you. The day is beautiful, and the men in the best of spirits. Many of them disliked to leave the warm quarters which they had been some time constructing, but all are elated with the prospect of moving southward. Gen. ----- and Staff ride at the head of the van. Just before the order came for marching, arrangements were being made to picket more strongly our extreme left, in anticipation of its being turned by bands of rebel Cavalry, who are operating in our rear. FALMOUTH, OPPOSITE FREDERICKSBURGH, Dec. 6.
If the signs of the times are rightly read by us we are on the eve of important and stirring events.
