Guess they used to work for UPS.
In addition to handling luggage, I would empty out plane lavatories, top off the drinking water and run the mail to the airport postal facility. NEVER trust the drinking water on a plane by the way.
As for the luggage, I saw all sorts of shenanigans like what these guys did. Once the luggage got into the hold, some workers would rifle through luggage that was not locked, looking for valuables. I don't think they can get away with that these days because everything is on camera. Even the cargo holds now have cameras.
I’ve seen some bad ones, but that video really doesn’t look so bad to me. Snowflake world.
Brought back a college days memory. I used to deliver mail for the campus and each day at Noon our big truck would go to the Detroit Post Office near the river and we would unload a lot of outgoing bags on the dock.
Inside, the US postal workers would handle the signing in. More than once we saw the guys there tossing small and medium boxes of mail to each other with joking basketball moves (behind the back, over to the left after after a feint to the right) and toss them into various canvas bins.
They would joke “Uh, oh, this one is special, handle with care” and maybe give it a knee kick or a light tap off the cinder block wall. Funny stuff.
Well trained and behaved Robots needed.
Low- lives..
They ought to be like entrepreneurial American baggage handlers and go through every piece of luggage, stealing whatever they wantā¦
Cannot see any film yet.
I have to wonder if part of the concern is because of all the soft suitcases now.
Hard-side has fallen out of favor, though I have no idea why. Fabric just isnāt as ought do protective. Never mind you can sit on a real Samsonite.
They love to damage large checked bags. Breaking off wheels etc. But the stuff that really gets these morons going are the obvious gear cases like musical instruments, hunting gear and skis.
I worked for NWA at ANC during the summer of 1996. I never saw anyone stealing or deliberately mishandling baggage. All we did was get it on or off the airplane as fast as possible. But we were actual NWA employees, and not some contract outfit.
I was flying out of LAX north to a central coast destination and watched from the elevated passenger waiting area an act of deliberate vandalismā¦with my briefcase!!
The small prop job plane was being loaded when a baggage monkey threw my locked ābeaterā briefcase like a quarterback heaving a pass. It slammed into a bulkhead support and caved in on the one side. Fortunately, the 4-5 hundred pages inside didnāt come loose.
I immediately contacted the gate agent and pointed out the miscreant from the window. Upon arrival, they had the claim ready to go and it consisted of choosing a brand new briefcase from a ācatalogā to replace the busted up case, which was received about a week later.
Standard Operating Procedure at every airport. You didn’t know this already? Luggage has to be touch and you NEVER put anything fragile in it.
This is normal. This isn’t even particularly bad.
Is one John McClain?
I know Iām weird, but I pack things in checked bags presuming they will be mishandled by baggage handlers. I do the same for anything I ship across the country. I pack as though my suitcase or package or whatever is going to be thrown against a wall or dropped from a high elevation. Suitcase or box may be torn up, but the contents are secure.
They will go work at UPS, Fedex etc....
