"Pet parent" is a bizarre mind-set.
Many people love their dogs, would even risk their lives for their dogs... but it is bizarre to consider their dogs as their "children".
It denigrates real parents.

Sounds like a few fog dog people I know. They’re kind of dirty like horse people.
My sister bred show quality Irish Setters, sweet dogs, but stoopid... she had 12 or so, a few champions, good puppies, big kennel and fields to romp. She took really good care of her stock.
I went to visit, worked there for a couple weeks doing my electrical thing. Flew home went in my garage stripped naked went inside showered mightily. Went back into the garage layed all my packed clothes out, bombed the garage then hotbwashed everything the next day.
I had to be sure. Different strokes for different folks...
