A word -- “Hope” -- is stitched onto a throw pillow in the little hilltop farmhouse. Photographs of children and grandchildren speckle the walls. In the kitchen, an envelope is decorated with a hand-drawn heart. “Happy Birthday, My Love,” it reads.
Out front, past a pair of century-old cottonwoods, the neighbors’ cornfields reach into the distance.
John Kraft loves this place. He loves the quiet and the space. He loves that you can drive for miles without passing another car.
But out there? Out beyond the cornfields, to the little western Wisconsin towns turning into commuter suburbs, and to the cities growing ever larger?
Out there, he says, is a country that many Americans wouldn’t recognize.
It’s a dark place, dangerous, where freedom is under attack by a tyrannical government, few officials can be trusted and clans of neighbors might someday have to band together to protect one another. It’s a country where the most basic beliefs -- in faith, family, liberty -- are threatened.

I didn’t know Ron Johnson dabbled in conspiracy theories? What a bunch of bull.
It reads like a National Geographic report.
“The apeman conservative was surprisingly intelligent. He did not immediately kill brown people, like his kind is prone to do. He could speak in complete sentences. Despite his primitive ways, he ate yogurt and drove a Tesla.”
Ron Johnson is not the problem. AP is the problem, and CNN, MSNBC nut cases, and the like. They are not bystanders in this like this article implies. They have taken an active role in elections by backing and supporting radical leftist politicians and demonizing the other side. And maybe some of those conspiracy theories are actually true. They often turn out to be.
It sounds like the AP found a guy who sits on the fence and not sure which side to jump off on. So he sits there and says stupid things like “If the Muslims wanted to build a mosque, let them, it’s the American way”. Sorry, but after 9/11, there is no way many folks want a mosque in their little town. Either than or they are unaware of how the Muslims operate.
We need to pick better candidates in the primary. We had two better candidates in Pennsylvania but chose a guy from New Jersey. Lol. I mean Pennsylvanians love jersey people. Ha! And Walker is ok, but now we find out he lives in Texas at least for homestead purposes. Come on! At least chose someone from the state.

FR Comments:
We need to run MAGA candidates in EVERY party.
Interesting read.

Agree but a lot of folks don’t see/view these small out of
the way communities that exist. Life is different for sure.
The Left is killing Freedom everywhere
What is the MSM and Left wanting to accomplish? What will it look like? What is their utopia? Is there a line the Left will not cross?
I prefer freedom and liberty over Marxist “democrazy”. The crap the far left is pimping has failed every time it’s been tried. “Refugees” running from Marxist “democrazy” is the reason we are being invaded from the south.
Rural Wisconsin here. That piece was the most sickening thing I've encountered from the MSM in a while. These elites really believe this crap. This is how they really see the world.
P
“It’s no longer left versus right, Democrat versus Republican,” says Kraft, a software architect and data analyst. “It’s straight up good versus evil.”
Absocottonpickinlutely.
“Rural Wisconsin here.”
Me, too. SW corner of our state, near the Mighty Mississippi River, across from Iowa. :)
Hudson, WI is filled with filthy Socialists. A lot of them live in Hudson, WI (for affordable housing) but work in factories in Minneapolis, Minnesotastan.
The guy in the article probably IS the last Conservative in Hudson, watching as it rots around him. :(
Not democracy’s demise but Liberty demise.
It’s ASS. Press.💩
You can just feel the pain of this AP writer, having to talk to these hicks in order to write this astonished essay of how backward they are.
